got about 10 flights on mine now.....great flying airplane....very precise and good 3D capability....snaps are instant and stop immediately....very minimal wing rock in harrier....I have 5 units up elevator mixed in on knife edge and no roll coupling....I can roll to knife edge, add rudder, and let go of the right stick and it will go from one end of the field to the other....flies light on the wings with no bad habits....excellent airplane.....a recommended build.....

my only real complaint is that the wing and stab tubes are quite loose in the sockets.....

Put a dab of slow curing ca on a cotton swab and smear it into the tube socket phenolics. It will tighten up those tubes for you. Be careful to distribute it evenly or you could effect your alignment and don't overdue it. Mike

Also, I am curious how you guys mounted your fuel tank. I have ideas of my own, just curious...maybe I can learn something.

It's finally finished. I flew it for the first time this evening, took one click of up trim and 3 of right aileron. Has very minor coupling in Knife edge...one click of trim is to much. Balances 1/2" behind wing tube with no additional weight. Final weight was 21.43 pounds, built stock except for the addition of a cannister box in the fuse.

2 5945's on the rudder, 1 5945 on each elev., 2 5945's on each aileron, and 2 standards on the thro and choke.
ZDZ 60 on a K&S Cannister for power turning a Bambula 22x10 for now but I will probably go to a 24x8 or 10 after a couple of gallons of gas.
2 5 cell 1650 nimh for the radio and 4 cell 1200 mah for the ignition.

Nice one, mark o74.
How does it go with a 60cc engine? And any chance of a picture of the exhaust installation as I need to keep it quiet and need to use a cannister.
Yours is finally finished, I just wish I could get mine finally started.

This is how I did my 27% with canister, lowered the landing gear plate to fit the canister tunnel in between plate and wing tube.

Rodders, next time I have the cowl off I will take a pic of the can installation. The 60 is still new and needs some more tuning, it had plenty of power for IMAC type aerobatics.

johan, looks good! On my 31% I didn't have to lower the landing gear to fit the can.

Default RE: Revised Set-Up

Hello, How do you mount the MKD control horns on the hinge line. They have a straight shaft with no curve. Nylon control horns have a pre-molded curve built in that allows them to be centered on the hinge line?

Thanks...Terry Johnson

Thank you Mark074 and Johan.
Yes well I finally started on my 31% and I am still keen to use a cannister.
I am going to get the zdz 80 soon along with the K&S cannister.
I notice you are using a 60 engine and just would like to hear from anyone who has managed to fit a 80 size engine and cannister in the fuselage.
It would be so easy to use one of those pitts type in cowl exhausts, but I do fly from a noise sensitive area and need to keep it quiet.
The K&S cannister is 65mm outside diameter and it is going to be a tight fit between the bottom of the wing tube and bottom of the fus even if I move the undercarriage plate right down.
I have just had a look at an instalation on a Hangar 9 plane at tangoncash.com and they had the cannister lying in a half tunnel with it exposed from the underside.
Many thanks to Marko74 and Johan for there help once again.
Come on there has got to be someone who has at least tried to fit a zdz80 and cannister to this plane.

Rodders,

tight fit it is!

The K&S cannister is 65mm outside diameter and it is going to be a tight fit between the bottom of the wing tube and bottom of the fus even if I move the undercarriage plate right down.
My canister the KS 86VS-4 is 60 mm outside diameter and I made the tunnel 70 mm inside diameter. For it all to fit I had to lover the landing gear plate 17 mm, resulted in an 8 mm clearance to bottom of formers.

Actually I think the solution worked out better than original as the gear mount looks more scale and I also gained some propeller clearance. Thou I can't tell if works in real life as I have yet to fly it.

/Johan

Hello
i dont have any parts.

Mine is still unflown but fully built following a house move, where it went into storage for a couple of years.
It resides on the rack in a heated workshop attached to the new house.

I ran the motor up last summer after being stored all this time. ZDZ 80 with K&S cannister.
It ran well.

Might even fly it this year.

Very nice.
It’s a pity they don’t do these kits anymore.
