I would like to join the Tiger Club,

I have Tiger 2 and 60 kits I have to build and I am currently working on retrofitting a wing on to a salvaged Tiger 2 fuselage. I had a Protege trainer which is basically a high wing Tiger 60. Unfortunately I lost it on it's 4th flight. Cant wait to get started on the 60 kit.

Welcome to the Tiger Group! You are lucky to have a couple of kits to build, as they are becoming more rare every day. Some are starting to build from scratch and some (like me) are going to the dark side and buying the Phoneix Tiger ARFs. (I have four now.)

I have found that the only thing that flies better than the Tiger 2 is the Tiger 60! Let us know what engines you are putting in, and have fun!

Thanks for letting me in the group. I actually purchased the 60 a couple of years ago on the hunch that they may not be available much longer (before they were discontinued). I did the same for the Tiger 2.

Right now I have a Saito 100 and OS 91 on the shelf for the 60. I will have to purchase an engine for the "2". I will probably go with a Saito 62. As you can tell, I like 4 strokes.

I like the Tiger 2 (40) size better than the 60 size. The bigger one floats forever on landing, and it is more difficult to get to snap roll. I do like the way the 60 size looks in the air though!

I inherited a partially built Tiger 2 minus the canopy. I am planning on finishing it one of these days if I can find a canopy or give up and make it out of wood.

Default Anyone interested in Tiger 2 and Tiger 60 Canopies?

I am working with a contact to make Tiger 2 and Tiger 60 canopies that would be made available to builders. I'm pretty sure no one is making them but if I missed that please let me know asap. To have these made, the makers need an original uncut canopies to assess cost and to make the molds. I have a Tiger 60 kit (w new uncut canopy) but I need an original uncut Tiger 2 canopy in order to have one reproduced. The original canopy will be sacrificed as part of the mold making process but I have gotten other plastic parts from this individual and they are outstanding. The cost of the mold making is approx. $100 each canopy and not sure who or how that will be covered, I may cover the mold cost myself as my contribution so saving these parts from further extinction. The rough estimate for the canopies would be $15-20 but that is TBD based on interest.

Please reply if you have a Tiger 2 canopy for sale or one to donate to the cause. If you donate the part you would get a reproduction in its place and I believe it would be higher quality. Also, let me know if you would be interested in purchasing either of these canopies as that will help make it happen.

Thanks - Greg

Seven years ago I announced I was building my second Tiger. It took me way longer than it should…

I modified it as per an old RCM article by Allan Alman.

Shortened wings, 1/4 of plans dihedral, enlarged Rudder, enlarged elevator, and a lot of power, article called for an OS 90 2 stroke I only had available a Saito 120… let’s see how it goes.

^^ Great looking plane and it should fly great. Better late than never, and put up a first flight report after you get it up.
