RE: DLE What?!?!
Big deal [&o]
I have done the same thing changing from a primer bulb to a flat plate, by tapping the hole from the cavity and using a 2-56 screw...Didn't know it was making it a special carb
ANYONE who says the carb should not be tuned before the first flight is doing the new owner a big disservice..Try flying at 7000 feet with the same tuning that works at 1000 feet...

RE: DLE What?!?!
That presumes a carb was set to a given state of tuning to begin with. If during the carb assembly process the needles were simply inserted into their mounting positions only enough to keep them in place, what would you have for a state of tune once the carb was mounted?
There is no rule or requirement for a manufacturer to run an engine, only one to assemble the engine and stuff it into a box. There's no rule to test run a carb either. What engine will that carb be mounted on?

Mypoint is that if it has a capped off recirc fitting for a primer bulb the carb was not originaly designed for an RC toy airplane engine.

RE: DLE What?!?!
Agreed. Something pre-existing was slightly modified to suit an application.
Some people seem to feel that RC engines are a large portion of gas engine sales and therefore deserve greater attention to production detail. That perception is far from the truth. RC makes up only a tiny fraction of gas engine sales and are not large enough on the radar to specialize in, especially if a serious living was desired to be made of it. A new product will generate a lot of initial sales but after the first sales surge things die off quickly. The ohh and ahh factor if you will. There is little in the way of sustainment to provide a continued revenue stream.
To confirm the above all one needs to do is look around the next time you go to a flying field. What is the proportion of gas engines to glow on any given flying day? The next verification can be found in the RC magazines. What percentage of articles are devoted to gas engine use?

Just to have a little fun.
For those that would like to do a little personal research, instead of challenging those that have already done that research, go to the link and try to find one RC engine brand name in the carb application guide. Those that prefer to challange instead of look themselves will not be rebutted by me anymore. Not worth my time or effort, unless they want to pay for that labor.

RE: DLE What?!?!
I should have said modern day engines[&o] Ya got me However, Zenoah engines were not developed for R/C, but other industrial apps. With the exception of one very limited run Sachs, so were the Dolmar engines. It has become accepted that several engines now serve dual purpose and the second purpose is now listed. Same carb as the working version most of the time. In essence, only two companies have a specific listing for engines intended for RC. One of which does not make them any more and the other is frowned upon because it costs more
Find stuff for DA, 3w, DLE, BME, Taurus, and the host of other new additions to the market. By new I'm referencing the last 10 years or so.

RE: DLE What?!?!
The Red Max 62cc chainsaw uses a different carb than the airplane engine...AFAIK the HDA 48 D is used only on the G62 airplane engine....Same for the WJ on the GT80...And the old WTA6 on the G38...

I asked Luis Salas at Walbro that question a few years ago...NO ONE had Walbro design a carb for a specific model airplane engine...NO ONE...
Your result may vary, but Luis is THE MAN at Cass City, home of Walbro...
