Default storing your 1/4 scale and larger aircraft?

I recently got a 1/4 scale Extra 260, and due to space (errr, lack of rather) I really dont have the space to store it. Is there any problems I should know about, if I hang it on the wall? I have some rope looped around the horizontals, just like you would tie it down to run the engine up. Will it hurt the horizontals over time?

Thanks,
RichD

I think over time it would, or maybe ruin your incidence by way of warping ... My Idea would be the opposite.. To hang it spinner up/Tail down from the wall with some rope around the landing gear.. Have it with on all 3's as if the wall was the runway.. The gear will take a lot more pressue than the enphenage will... My $.02 BTW I have a 1/4 and a 28% in a 2br apt so I feel your pain...

I hang all of my planes from the celing in my garage. I by U shaped celing mount brackets at Lowes which are designed to hang bicycles. I slightly modify them to better serve my purpose but they are foam padded so I don't get hangar rash. If anyone is interested I will snap a photo of the brackets

Is that the Goldberg 30% ultimate? If so how do you like it, what engine.........I've been thinking about getting it.

For storage.....I have a table I made out of collapsable legs from Home Depot. I used a cheapo door, and a sheet of drywall for the topping......in all it cost about 28 bucks. It sits there most of the time, or in my trailer.

I have an 11x16 shop that holds two work benches, two 24" shelving units, a roll-around tool box, a gun cabinet, a fishing pole rack and seven planes (3 40's, a 2M, a 1.20 and two 33%ers. I hang all the planes from the ceiling. The two 33%ers are on pulley systems that allows me to get them up and down easily.

I hang mine from the tail with bungie but to stop the tail group from taking damage the spinner sits in a PVC pipe and most the weight is supported by that, works for me .

Saw the pix posted - what a great solution; I am all over this!

No joy on finding the item at Lowe's and I got a glassy-eyed response from their "customer service" when I asked when they might get some. But not to worry: I found my local Ace Hardware store more than willing to special order them - $6.49 ea. (they don't come in pairs) - I'll have 'em in a couple of days. Just ask them to order up the Crawford 2-In-1 Shelf And Hanger, Item no: 5203492.

Mike
