Default JR 8411 servo ?'s

Will be using the jr8411 servos on a 1/3 CAP gasser. I have been told that the servo gear train will last for about 50 flights until they need replacing. If this is true can the gear train be replaced with a "nylon" replacement kit? If so will they be stong enough for the 1/3 CAP? There is a huge cost difference between the two types of gear replacement sets.....thanks all.

JR already makes it with a nylon gear train. It is labeled the 8411SA and it is a bit cheaper than the standard 8411. I have one and it is one great servo.

hope this helps,

Kevin

Default Geartrain

I too have heard the "will wear out in 50 flights" on 8411's and 2721's for that matter, but I haven't really noticed excessive wear.

I have four 2721's on ailerons and two 8411's on elevators on a 35% Edge with a 3D setup, but I also fly IMAC stuff. Plane has somewhere between 100 and 125 flights. I have noticed a little wear on all but it is not excessive IMO. Plane is still in trim, control is very predictable even on my super low rates and WOT passes no flutter. Figure I can make it to 200+ flights before needing to replace the gears.

I would however be very interested in knowing how the 8411SA holds up to high loads @ 6V. The impression I got from JRs advertisements was that it really wasn't inteneded for giant scale, instead it was more for 25% scale and helis. I like the idea of low lash with nylon gears but I'm worried about stripping gears on larger planes and surfaces with multiple servos. Anyone using the 8411SA on giant scale?

KevinS: For what application did you use your 8411SA? Thanks.

I have the JR 4721 servos (6 total on the flying surfaces with nylon gears) on a 33% Edge...500+ flights. The gears are slop free, but the aluminum servo arm wears out the nylon output spline creating slop. I am thinking about switching to the Dubro HD nylon servo arms. Metal servo gears are not a requirement on all 33% planes....maybe on some flutter-prone ARFs.

Default Gear set cost?

Just out of curiosity, what does a metal gear replacement set cost for an 8411 servo?
