might i suggest the new OS .18cvrx.
at towerhobbies it is 99 bucks with a pull start. very cheap and a little more powerful then the trx2.5
OS claims 1.35hp. you will need another header pipe though as it uses a side port.

also if you have a big enough budget you could go for the OS 18 tm
they claim 1.8hp out of it.
good luck.

The OS .18TM w/maxx header is a direct drop in for your maxx, but the OS .18 CV-R or CV-RX are not direct drop in's. In addition to a new exhaust system, you will also need a new flywheel nut, some shims, a dremel with cutoff wheel, and the skills required to trim the crankshaft and nut for proper fit. It's not all that hard to do, but it's not something for the first timer either.

I got this Engine a few days ago. The thing has a lot of power! I was only able to make it to the 4th tank of break in (running super rich) and already melted my gears. You can get the engine for about 150 on twoer above with the coupon codes and what not, but you will have to spend some cash on upgrading your gears/diffs and maybe drive shafts.
