DURALITE POWERBOX 40/24 SC-12
I would like some feedback from anyone using Duralites Powerbox 40/24 SC-12 and the programer.
I want to hear about the good and the bad of using one of these.
If there is already info on RCU about these, please point me in the right directions

Bob,
I put one in a Eurosport - my first jet - as I wanted to have the two-battery redundancy, servo power isolation, reliable power switching and power regulation from Li-On packs. Also I wanted two servos per elevon and the SC-12 does a perfect job of servo matching for end points and centering. So far in about a dozen flights, it's been working fine. I did find the programming a little frustrating at first but inevitably, the more you use it the easier it becomes. I forgot to do the 'save' routine a couple of times on the programmer and of course lost the values when re-powering the system. Also, make sure you leave sufficient access space at the side of the power box to attach the programmer cable (don't ask...).
Since the powerbox has its own servo setup (endpoints, centering) once you have set the travels with the programmer you can't get more travel from the transmitter, so with a new model you might have to go back to using the programmer to 'open-up' some previously set travels but again, this is a user decision. I'm happy with it; it works as advertised.

Hi Bob!
I use it in my AIrworld Cougar (it is just not the Duralite version, but internally the same). It works just fine for me. The programming is kind of tricky, but no problem at all. You do it once in awhile, probably in the models lifetime. Much smarter solution than using a bunch of match-boxes.

Bob,
The powerbox 40/24 SC12 is a great unit, nice features and reliable performance. You may want to look into the Weatronics RX too. Has most of the same features and a ton more for just a bit more money... Give me a call if you have questions on either unit...

Bob, I have been using two for several years. They have been relilable and are not difficult to program. One saved my plane.
Todd has a point on the Weatronic. You not only get the redundant power supply and matchbox features, but a backup receiver as well. There are also other programming flexibilities that sets the Weatronic a bit ahead. I have been playing with one in my L39 and I am very impressed with it so far.
