SH engines

Someone no doubt has, but not many write about it. Personally, I consider that as a good sign, because if they were bad, prolly the internet would be brimming with negative reports.
But it's not conclusive, I'll admit that.
I haven't gotten around to buying and testing one, but would not hesitate if circumstances would warrant the purchase of a new small 2stroke engine. Problem is not the engine but me not having any need for small 2-strokes.
FWIW: there are no really bad engines anymore, even the ASP/Magnums back then reached a pretty satisfactory level of quality.

I think he really means "SH"... it's a chinese or taiwanese brand (not sure from where exactly): https://www.justengines.co.uk/produc...v=796834e7a283
EDIT: Ah, I see they are Taiwanese...

Taiwanese and pretty good engines for the money. I’ve had numerous SH truck engines. Reliable, easy to use, good power, and pretty easy to tune. I sold the last of mine recently in favor of some other engines I’ve been vying to get.

If so, then there's that...

Team Losi, XTM, & Dynamite engines, among others, are all made by SH Engines/Golden Lion. Losi has used Dynamite engines for over a decade or better. I’ve had about a dozen of those engines over the years. Not extremely powerful, but mild mannered ready to run type engines usually aren’t. The only thing I would keep an eye on is the bearings. Expect to replace the bearings within the first 3-4 gallons of fuel. Replace with quality bearings and it’ll last for a long ass time. On par with a good ASP example.

That's good enough for me. Price/quality ratio is hard to beat on those. Anybody can beat either price OR quality, but it's the ratio that matters most for the average sunday flyer. At least, in my book.

Bert - remind me, please. Are ASP/Magnum mainland China or Taiwan?

EDIT... I was wrong, somewhere else... But while I tried figuring that out, DAMN!!!!! And I am writing this with capital letters because, wel... read for yourself:
Your website name (sanyeengine.com)
It has all appearance someone resumed production...

That was my thoughts as well...
Asked the guys from JustEngines if they knew anything, but it was news to them as well, he'llprobably be on the phone with them tomorro I can imagine...
And I just noticed something peculiar about how they set up their website: The pathway from home to individual engines goes via (for example) the subdivisions (categories) Home=>airplane engines=>fourstroke engine=>twin cylinder fourstroke=> glow engine=> FT160
They could have just said "engine=>fourstroke=>FT160". Keeping room for multiple additional categories such as multi or single,, and fuel type, MIGHT mean that they keep the options open in the future for at least the possibility of bringing out gassers in both 2 and 4 stroke, and possibly even different sizes of twins and/or radials.
Not saying they are going to, just saying that there are a few "empty category-options" there that in the future might get filled

Yeah, I noticed a lot of missing engines. The little .12 & .15 aero, 3.5cc & 7.5cc marine, etc. Those little ASP .12s really howl. My buddy got a couple of them when they were like $40 new. Last time I saw one for sale, the seller wanted $150 for it.

The other four engines now in their lineup also were to my knowledge good sellers, although I would have expected the 90 fourstroke over the 80 to be released. (EDIT: in hindsight, the choice for the 80 is a logical one because pistons, rings and liners are identical for 80, 160 twin and 400 radial).
The small engines, especially the 2 strokes under .40, were kinda niche... Only folks really into tiny planes would use them.
But I really do hope that my suspicions are coming true and they will venture into gas. If they can get the carburation and cooling right, they can go with identical internals (reducing number of different parts to only head and crankcase castings), because mechanically, I have since long proven these engines can take it... :P

A “richard” pointed out to me that ASP isn’t back into production; the site is merely there to determine demand/viability. The same “richard” said glow engines are dead, though secondary market sales would contradict that. The gasoline conversions would also contradict that statement.
it’s getting deep, boys. Get out your big boy shovels.

If the site is there only to determine demand, it is a bit weird that they released explicit dates for resuming production and written in the past tense as in "in February 2023 production has been resumed".
I do not believe anything I read on the interweb, but the language used is explicit and the pics do not look identical to those issued by the former manufacturer. Somehow, they look new WRT surface finish and such.
I really do not know what to believe, but I'm pretty sure Andrew will come back with more info soon. He was pretty excited about it, and I think he has some experience with chinese manufacturers. He at least used to have good enough relations with the previous owners of Sanye that they signed him in first for "workshop floor sweepings" like a batch of .46 P/L sets and even 8 complete Boxers that were found somewhere on a dusty shelf.
It may very well turn out to be a big nothing burger, but IF the site would only be there to determine demand, I fail to see why a website would be set up with a tree of product categories, and why there would be an empty category "gasoline" and all that.
It seems to me all a bit too much work for just feeling the water...

That is exactly me thought as well, Bert. The guy that went on a big s peel about it is the Trader Talk Police Chief if you know what I mean. I’m waiting to see if the “richard” pokes his lame head in here and says anything.
