Boomerang XL Robart front strut.
Hi,
Does any have a photo of the newly designed Robat front strut for the Boomerang XL II. I am currently using a standard strut which need to be cut down , which makes it less effective.

RE: Boomerang XL Robart front strut.
austinjets,
The strut as designed is about 2 1/2 inches too long. I had to cut both the spring , housing and the inside sliding part of the strut. The amount of travel is therefore limited to about 1/4 inch. If I cut the inside any shorter there is a risk of it cumming out. This happened to my buddies strut. By less effective I mean the amount of up and down travel after the modification.

Jef, I've never heard of cutting to size a robart strut making it "less effective"
Can you elaborate?

RE: Boomerang XL Robart front strut.
What diameter strut is it?
On the 3/8" struts there is a nylon plug in the upper part that is a spring stop.
If you need to cut the strut shorter than the instructions say is possible you will need to remove that nylon plug.
It's easy to get out with a 1/4" drill bit.
After the plug is gone you install one of the steel inserts that come with the struts new in the very top of the strut and the spring will push against that.

Kevin,
Thanks for the reply, I am using the 1/2 inch struts. I have used the 3/8 struts and have made that mod with great results.

RE: Boomerang XL Robart front strut.
I used the stock Robart 673 series struts which are 9 5/8 inches Long . Way too long for the front rail set up in the Boomerang XL. I had to cut off 2 5/8 inches to make the plane level. I understand that Robart has created a complete air up spring down custom gear set for the Boomer XL. Which is only available through Boomerang Jets.
