Default Shock Piston Numbering Question

I recently purchased new shock pistons, and was wondering what the numbering on them means.

I have numbers 1-5. Is the greater the number the softer the shock?

Thanks

Anty

I do not know about the numbers but if you look at them they have holes in them. I would think the more holes or bigger holes would give less restriction which would mean less damping.

They are the HPI teflon ones. The problem is that all almost all of them have 2 holes. The last one has 3 very very small holes. I have not tried swapping them out to see how they feel. I put the #1's in the front, and the #2's in the rear. I cannot fell any diff between the 2. Maybe I need to try the #5's..

Thanks!

I just looked at the HPI pistons and if you look real close the holes are different sizes. 1 has the biggest holes and 5 the smallest. The smaller the hole the more resistance because the oil will not move there the smaller hole like it will with the bigger hole. So 1 is the softest and 5 the stiffest. [8D]

Yeah those are the ones that I have.

I think I might swap my front and back ones. I have the #2's in the back, and the #1's in the front.

I am getting a killer rear bounce, that wants to flip the rear end over the front end when I hit small bumps. It mostly happens on cracks in the sidewalk and the like.

Thanks!

Anty
