RE: what to get for t-maxx
There's so much you can do to a T-Maxx. I recommend you break it in and get used to the truck in stock form and replace parts as you break them (you will break stuff). First to go will probably be a-arms, bulkheads, tie rods, driveshafts.

well depending on what you're doing, if you racing then a lot will be needed, if you're bashing still a lot needed but not as much.
I'd say a good starting point would be:
-steering servo
-hump pack
-tires
-aluminum chassis brace
-failsafe
-good set of tools (hex drivers, wheel wrenches, temp gauge etc. etc)
-good set of shocks(bigbores, or 1/8 buggy shocks)

RE: what to get for t-maxx
yea thats pretty much what i did w/ my E-maxx when it was working.
im planning to use my E for a "parts car" for when i break the T
i am also planning to get a traxxas power pack, firm springs and 80 wt for it.
do you think that a single speed would be reasonable? im thinking it would be good for backflips since its lighter and you dont have to get it up to a second-gear speed to do backflips (second gear makes wheels go faster in mid air).
oh yea... she is going to be a jump truck for sure[>:]

do you think that a single speed would be reasonable? second gear makes wheels go faster in mid air= quicker backflips and the single speed gear is a mix between 1st gear and 2nd. if i dont have to wait for it to get into second gear and have all that speed, i could do backflips at a slower approaching speed and therefore break less parts.
kind of confusing they way i put it but i hope you guys get the point.[8D]

RE: what to get for t-maxx
when you start getting stuff remember you dont want to go over board with aluminum, stick to rpm products, they are cheap and last longer than aluminum, some nice SOLID aluminum bulkheads are nice, untill you mash the chassis off them and strip the bulkhead where the chassis mounts to them..... man i hated my maxx.... i may have a 3.3 engine laying around when i start doing my e-revo conversion...

RE: what to get for t-maxx
yea, i have been there with my E. i broke the bulkheads like 6 times until i got aluminum ones. then i broke the chassis twice after that.
yea i don't like aluminum parts much, i only like it if its a nice bulky piece that doesn't hang off the chassis(such as bulkheads)
i would outfit the truck with rpm for sure.

Check out the Trinity Heavy Duty T-Maxx shock springs. I run these with 70 wt. shock oil and 3 hole pistons. Suspension doesn't bottom out on even the biggest, sickest jumps. May be hard on the stock hinge pins though. I use Lunsfords.

RE: what to get for t-maxx
i dunno about anybody else but my first upgrade was an aluminum fuel tank. After i was done breakin it in i ran it straight into a curb (by accident) and destroyed the stock plastic tank. I strongly recommend the aluminum tank.

Yes, the FOC is a worthwhile upgrade. Eliminates a lot of weight and simplifies the tranny, eliminating another centrifugal clutch. I put a FOC in my T-Maxx and love it. Hardly ever used reverse anyway.

RE: what to get for t-maxx
yeah, if i can come up with enough $$$ i may just sell the whole chassis and motor and everything and do the gorilla maxx chassis or the new bulletproof products chassis,
