Hey guys what type gas motor would give the CA 27% EXTRA plenty of power for 3d and everything else. Money is no problem. What do you guys recommend.

Hi John,

I am also going to do a CA 27%'er. I'm still in the gathering of the gear stage of this project though. I asked this question also and the majority of the answers I got were a 40 or a 50. Basically, a ZDZ40 or equivelent should fly it fine, but a 50 will make it a 3D monster is how it was explained to me. Not sure what type of flying you are planning on doing, but that's the information I have received.

A clubmate (Paul Swany here on RCU) is also going to build one soon. I think he will beat me to the bench though. He's planning on a BME 44 which is supposed to be more than enough power. Are you planning to do a construction thread? Maybe between you, me and Paul we could piggy back techniques and possible trip-up's.

Keep us all informed.

John

Hey scale dreamer, I have already built mine it is ready to cover so i figured I would need to be thinking about a motor to put on it. I will tell you the truth this is the first kit i have ever built solo, it is the easist kit to build lock together parts etc. My next plane after is going to be some 40% er and I was bent on a Carden extra but after building this kit I am having some second thoughts, but anyway you can go on www.********.net and there is a constuction thread on there that show step by step it is awesome, the instuctions from the factory for a columbo suck, I printed pictures and exclusivly used that thread, it is under the building table section on the site, and even has him flying the completed plane on video with a old BME 50 on it, the plane looks like a awesome machine. anyway let me hear your thoughts[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]
