Quadra 35cc
I have just bought, what I was told a 1979 35cc Quadra engine.
It has some type of electronic ignition. It has what I think is a coil box that is sealed with epoxy. This box has three (3) wires, Blk,Red and a white. The engine has a six screw hub with some sort of sensor, either a mag pickup or hall efect sensor, with one white wire. It also came with a three volt battery. I don't have any idea how to wire the thing. Can anyone Help???????????

Do you know what the battery voltage should be for this ignition?
Mine came with two D size batteries in series. (3) volts. Also was the electronic ignition a standard for this engine or a add on?
Thanks: Mike

Add on, never heard of one that used only 3 volts....
Maybe an old, old, system with a Modelectric coil, used way back when with small antique ignition engines..The Modelectric coil is still being made, but the insulation won't stand up to the voltage put out by modern circiuits......

most electrical components run on a 5v power supply thus the reason most use 4.8v. I can not guarantee this is what yours is.however a good way to find out is to run it at the three volts and see when it stops working, check the voltage, this will tell you of operating voltage.if it cuts off at 2.8 or higher then it is more than likely a 5v system,if it runs down to 2v then it is a 3-3.6v system.hope this helps

Hey! thanks for the info.
The 5 volts did the trick. Does any one know what is the best prop size for the older Quadra 33-35 is??
I have a zinger 16x8 on it now and it spins it at 8500rpm's, Is that to fast for this engine?

Hi sukhoi glad youy got it running ,I would recomend a zinger 18 6-10 this produces the best thrust for mine but a cheap $10.00 dynathrust 18-8 would be fine for sport flying.
