Differential Differences between the TMAXX 3.3 and the Revo 3.3
So me and my buddy reoiled our diffs this weekend. This is what we found in differences between the two. As per my buddy from the Traxxas board:
Ever hear of the old saying, learn form your mistakes? I guess Traxxas has done that with the T-MAXX to the REVO? Not really a mistake, but an improvement on something. My friend and I rebuilt our differentials yesterday. We received our trucks the same day. He probably has about 12 tanks more run time on his than I do. We looked at the 2 diffs very closely. Many improvements were made when designing the REVO. 1 The REVO case has front and rear halves; T-MAXX has 2 side halves. The REVO pinion gear bearings are pressed in where T-MAXX are sandwiched between halves. My pinion gear bearings seem a little loose and I am waiting for the bearing races to spin. 2 REVO ring gear has 4 beefy hex head screws, T-MAXX 4 small Phillips head screws. 3 REVO has ring gear to diff carrier gasket and 2 output gear seals, T-MAXX has none. My two diff carriers were just about empty of grease, the REVOs were still full. So what’s my point to all of this? I want to upgrade to something a little more beefy, and requires less maintenance. Has anyone upgraded? What do you recommend? My MAXX is so close to being a great racing Monster Truck.
So the question I have is can the TMAXX use all the interior components on the REVO diff and just put it into the MAXX diff carrier? Anybody try this?

sounds to me like you and your buddy should have done that when you were both changing diff oil.

RE: Differential Differences between the TMAXX 3.3 and the Revo 3.3
Didn't think of it at that time as I was doing a complete tear down as I put on new yokes, changed to the Tekno battery/rx/throttle housing, cleaned out the OWB, re built the diffs, and pretty much checked and cleaned everything else. Was a long 12 hr day. We only thought of that the next day.
