I wasted headers real easy too. Never just driving down the road. Ussually bashing and it and landing rubber side up.
I added a wing and hacked the flare (bell) off the header. Seems to have worked.

how far down did you cut it off cause i was thinking that maybe inside coupling pipe and header were hitting causeing it to slowly brealk off just from vibration and stuff that happens in normal were and tear also did that increase power i heard it does

Go to towerhobbies and search "rs4 header". Then the one that lookw like the shape of the traxxas hearder will work. You might need to bend it alittle to hold the pipe right, but after that ur good to go.

blue...I don't know why yours keeps cracking, but if you get a header for a Nitro 4-Tec 2.5 it'll come up a bit higher and be a little less likely to take a pounding. I used a touring car header when I swapped my engine in my old Revo and that pretty much fixed my header bending problems.

You could buy or make a flex header. Here is the one I made. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_42..._2/key_/tm.htm

I had mine break yesterday at the track, what a way to kill my night. To fix this how much should I cut off of my new header?

RE: revo exhaust keeps breakin any ideas
I never broke mine personally, but I have a friend who broke 2-3. His solution ended up being a little different. He got the header pipe from a savage (U-shaped) and made the revo a side exhaust. Since the revo doesn't really have room for a side pipe, he mounted it to the rollbar/carry thing. He also noted that this header (which is considerably bigger than the one in traxxas' bb kit) really woke it up (has a mach 28). I decided to try it on my sh28 and it did seem to bring out some more power. It's also a hell of a lot louder to. I'll see if I can get a pic at lunch of mine.

For all of those that break your headers, try getting a 1/8 buggy header and tuned pipe.
It will run parallel to the chassis, instead of in front of the rear shock tower, but the gas will have less resistance traveling through the header, and there is a larger variety of 1/8 buggy pipes.
And believe me, those headers will hold up to the abuse far better

that being said, I can't argue with your general logic. the problem is finding a manifold to run a side exiting exhaust system on the Revo compatible with the 2.5 the way the revo is set up.

it'd sit way high.
redrill the spring holes in this and run a standard small block pipe if you're running an OS or other rear exhaust engine though

I just re-looked at it and you wouldn't hvae to drill anything

You might be able to use that header for the 1/8 buggy.
But if you run a big block, the 1/8 buggy pipe is the best option.
And actually, Steve Slayden uses a Traxxas no. 5485 exaust pipe, mounted along side the chassis. He uses a N. Rustler header adapted to fit the TRX 3.3 round port flange.
So there
