Default HL proportional speed...

Are all HL S&amp;S tanks thus fitted? As I understand it the non-S&amp;S modeld have simpler two-speed control.</p>

That's correct........I think.<div>I once believed this, but unless Raidentech has written adescriptionwrong which is not unlikely, but so far they've gotten it right on my orders.....this makes me unsure if HL makes "exception" units.</div><div></div><div>I've asked Raiden tech rep to verify what type of board may be in this and of course......they don't know! lol</div><div></div><div>$129.95 for SOUND only tank.</div><div>$10 dollars less than their SMOKE and sound version.

EDIT: Duh!! Forgot the link, lol. Also, for a $10 dollar savings and theuncertaintyof what's in it......I think the additional $10 dollars is worth the piece of mind and absence of frustration. <a href="http://www.raidentech.com/upvemetr1rcs.html">http://www.raidentech.com/upvemetr1rcs.html

I agree 100% for the couple extra $'s the S and S version is by far much better. I had mistakenly ordered a couple non S and S tanks, and now they just sit on the shelf waiting to be rebuilt into S and S tanks which will cost me about $50-$60 each. It would be a much better use of $ to just order the S and S version.

Yeah Jim, those non-S&amp;S would make for some good parts, lol! From the cost to upgrade it just for the parts alone (excluding shipping which could be from various sites to get all that you need)...new tanks could be bought. <div>
</div><div>I'm so glad I stumbled on this site before ever buying my first tank. I'm glad my first tank was from Phil, too. Really great stepping stone to purchase tanks from for beginners, which allowed me the confidence to proceed.</div>

Phew, thanks! I just ordered a KV and was concerned that I ordered the wrong model. Most model shop websites show a mish-mash of manufacturers blurb, some of which doesn't pertain to the model in question, hence my panic! I ordered a KV1 with S&amp;S, metal tracks, gears and sprockets from www.howesmodels.co.uk which describes it as only having two speeds.
Also the price was good-&pound;100 cheaper than Tankzone (!) which gave me pause for thought, thinking I was getting an inferior model.

Oh, and by the way, apologies for being a lazy b*****d and not using the search function-all my questions would have been answered there without taking you guys' time!

Well, good find and smart shopping! I think you'll be extremely happy with the KV. Since you already own a Tiger, I have no doubt that you'll shelf that Tiger. From my understanding, the Tiger was the first of HL line if not one of the first, so you'll see and feel a vast difference in it's construction. Really stiff compared to the Tiger.<div></div><div>I haven't thrown a track yet, doing sharp turns in tall grass.....mind you, the KV does love to eat grass no matter the height. Something about the tracks and sprocket just suck grass blades into any crevice possible. So, keep in mind, pull that grass out before you do throw a track! Leaving debris may force a relax in the tracks and plastic.</div>

My 'proving ground' is a mix of fairly coarse but even-sized stone chipping as well as areas of slate chip and flagstones so no grass to chew up! Now where's that cat that crapped in my yard...
Oh, and the pictures on Howes models site blow up really big-you're right, the construction and moulding looks real crisp.

Yeah, That cat crap will mess up your tracks. and the wife won't let you keep it in the house. Better get a BB gun for the cat. For all you tree hugging animal lovers, I'm just kidding lol.

This is the exact reason I ONLY order through well known to this forum retailers Bill- RCCommand  Phil RCTAnkWars.com ETO- Bob Herne, <div> Karen - AAF  and in and emergency MATO, But I always try Steve at WelshDragon models also for the Asiatam stuff first. His prices and shipping are almost impossible to beat. Love his site. I know many of you feel that you are saving money by buying from these large and sometimes local suppliers, But what you don't understand is Tanks are a VERY Small part of the RC world. These tanks and parts we buy are just Part Numbers too most of them and they have very limmited knowledge of what they are selling. I would rather wait a month , sometime s 2 to order from our guys than get something over night or next day and knot be sure of what i'm getting. Buyer Beware never applied more than too the RC Tank Hobby.</div>

I appreciate what you're saying but specialist tank retailers and experts are scarce here in England. Welsh Dragon are fine for upgrade parts but I haven't found a specialist RTR dealer-and I've done a lot of searching. I DO understand what you're saying but my options are very limited, and I'd rather not buy internationally with all the delays involvedand potential pitfalls.
