Anyone out there no where I can find a good list of 4-bladed props.. like props that will fit on .40's or .60's size?

Any help would be much appreciated

Default 4 Blade Prop

Paul,

I don't know what you are trying to do but I put a four blade prop on a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 once and it barely had enough power to take off. I got back on the ground and took the prop off immediately. The four blades are spinning so fast, one blade is constantly in the prop wash of the last blade and very little thrust is generated.

Default warbird...

i'm making a warbird in the .40 to .60 size and examining options. Surely there has to be 4 bladed props that will do the trick. Sure you didn't have the wrong pitch. Maybe the pitch wasn't enough on your prop?

APC also supplies four bladed props, and Tower stocks them.

Tower has a lot of things that are either not on their web site, or are very difficult to find. But they are listed in the catalogue.

I find it easiest just to call them. Hard to get an answer at midnight, though.

Anyway, glad you found the APC site.

Bill.

Sounds like a mismatch between your engine and the prop... I had an APC 9-6 4 blade, and it would match thrust with the (justifiably) vaunted 12.25-3.75. The TT 46 pro would spin it at 14K.

I personally don't buy the blade interference theory. There are so few multiblade props available that the chance of getting one to match a specific engine, and intended mission are pretty slim - consequently, the probability of mismatching the engine and prop are significant. I have a turbine which has 16 blades on the compressor wheel and turns 117,000 rpm. It has no problem moving great masses of air through the engine. However, it has been specifically designed and optimized for it's task, and is manufactured and balanced to a precision unheard of in our model props. The point being that the number of blades does not affect efficiency so much as design and manufacturing tolerences..
