Killswitch or Throttle return spring?
I have a dilema. I have a WHH Enforcer with a 30cc Homelite in it. The throttle cable servo doesnt do "reverse" and I need to beable to shut down the engine incase of trouble. I figured a throttle return spring that the servo could fight to hold the throttle open a bit and while running it would not be an issue, and I could then take around 30 clicks out of throttle trim (negetive) and this would cause it to choke and sputter out.
I also have used BAJAfailsafe on the third channel in my other large scale FG and HPI cars, but I cant figure out how this would hook up to the homelite as the Baja one from TGN (Team Gonads Racing) is made for a CY or Zenoah engine that have shutoffs on them.
I had a bracket set up on the engine that held the throttle cable in place, so I could close the throttle all the way and choke the fuel off, but it isn't always relaible and I had to run my boat aground and gave it some nasty gouges and beat up my prop bad.

You can also run a fail safe.
Hook it between your receiver and your throttle servo.
Duratrax makes a decent one I run it and it works well.
The only thing about a bolt in engine kill switch is out on the water if you get the slightest glitch it kills the engine and there sits the boat.

I glued a micro switch to the top of my throttle servo, when trimmed all the way back the servo horn touches it and shuts the motor off

OR...you could always swap out the cable for a rod...which is what I did, and that is exactly why I swapped it out...

I may just have to go that route because I dont trust the simple slip fit ball link end that is on it now.
Perhaps I just need a new throttle linkage set up entirely.

Yeah , I'll try to get one loaded tonight before I start tearing it down again. It's not a perfect set up, and I'm still trying to test it, but I can't get the engine to run long enough to get it dialed in. Same principal as my nitro boat..it has a rod as well.
PS...you're right ....ditch those slip fits for some Monsters, or at least 4/32 with the screw on links....

Ok here you go...like I said, it's not a perfect set up. I didn't have the proper tool to give accurate 45* bends, but pliers can work wonders...lol.
I still have to install the rubber boot, just haven't gotten to it yet.
Also, if you go this route, don't get the press on rod retainer for the servo. Get the bolt on kind, the one with the nut that tightens on the bottom of the servo arm.... My LHS was out, and I got the press on kind, and it is already coming loose...I DO NOT Recommend the press on.
I used 4-40 ball links on the rudder, both ends, and 2-56 for the throttle. All have the socket head cap screws.
