A fresh look at my tail
Been flying helis for a while and I only have trouble with this T-Rex 450SA. It been upgraded quite a bit, but I am having troubles with it's obnoxious tail.
I have GY401/9650 combo with a V2 pushrod and pitch slider/blue grips combo, the tail case is plastic.
What I'm dealing with:
Gyro setting is 50% and what I get with a nose left piro is a tail "bounce" and then stops. It just bounces once, not like a wag. It's a horizontal bounce BTW. On a nose right piro it will stop as it should.
I just recently moved the ball to the whole closest to the servo horn screw so that I could increase the gain I'm trying to get more control of the tail during tic-tocs. It has a tendency to throw that tail around.
I have thought about buying a CNC tail case, but I don't see the benefits over the $7.99 plastic case.

RE: A fresh look at my tail
Are you running 6V or 5v. The 9650 is slow when using 5v. I think its .14 at 5V and .12 at 6V. I would just turn the gain down. Be sure you adjust linkage to the cnter of tail. I use the 9257 with a speed of .08 at 5V and I use the hole closest to center and still had to turn down to about 35-45. This got me wondering since we use about 60 or so on our nitro machines. Buts its normal.

I also have the GY401/9650 combo on a newer stock SE V1 and have had the same problem with the tail "bouncing" back a little when stopping a fast pirouette. I've also moved the push rod to the hole closest to the center on the servo horn (had to put it that close before the travel limiter would start limiting before binding) which seemed to help, though since rebuilding after the last crash the bounce seems to be back. I still need to replace the tail belt though (lost a few teeth) so hopefully that'll help. I have the gain around 30% but not doing any 3D.

RE: A fresh look at my tail
I have the same bounce, well almost like a slip in one direction only and only after a piro or other long stick movement in the same left direction.
I've got a Logitech 2100t gyro, Futaba 9650 servo, and I have a CNC tail.
I will try the hole closest to the servo horn screw, as I have it in the middle right now and my gain is at 35%.
