Default Charging Station

Guys,

Just finished my charging station. My goal was to clean up the amount of equipment i use on the flight line...

The case is Pelican and is indestructible! I have 3 TP 610c chargers and a Multiplex charger mounted to a 1/4 Plexiglas plate. The system carries an on board 12v gel cell battery for stand alone operations. I also converted a Hobby People 120v power supply to use a computer cord type connection for easy disconnect. I added an internal cooling fan that only runs when A/C is connected to help keep things cool. I also have an external connection port to connect a 5th charger if needed.

Whatcha think?

I would say you have too much spare time on your hands. No seriously, nice clean install.

That is awesome!! What was your general cost and how do you have things wired/setup under the glass?

It looks nice. I'm trying to imagine why you might need 4 or 5 chargers going at the same time.
How big a gel cell do you need to support it?

I have to charge 7 batteries before going flying (and that is only one jet!!), so I could see all these chargers coming in handy, escpeically at an event...

sweet setup.

I just use an ion cube with 5 channels, it will charge three A123's for the receiver, and smoke, and the primary ECU lipo and the backup lipo. Then in the winter when its time to fly indoors, just switch out the A123 cards for lipo cards and charge 5 lipos at the same time.

pretty handy device.

OH, Chad, get this guy out and make him fly. he has too much time in the lab!!!!

I can think of - 2 RX - 1 ECU - 1 Smoke - 1 lights - 1 TX - Whats the other one?

I love the work that you have done. This is really a clean setup.

Question: having some many chargers , have you yet tested it as to how long and how many cycles you can do use this charging station with all the chargers in use with the onboard gel battery?

I built a box just like yours, but I used on two chargers, and the on board gel battery could not keep up with a full day of flying at a jet meet.

Do you have an outlet built in to connect to a full size car battery that you could carry and sit next to it at the flying field?

I have yet to test stand alone endurance, I doubt it will be able to keep up for a all day event. The idea behind the on-board is to allow for a quick top off on the flight line as needed. Most of the time it will be on A/C provided by my little 2000KVA Honda generator. It is super quiet and runs forever on a gallon of gas.

Please keep attention: I've connected two several chargers to one car-batterie: After a short time one charging battery (Ncd) explodes... What's happend? The two chargers had two different prozessors with two different MHz. These different MHz are the reason for false charging values.... My tipp: Use only one kind of charger.

You guys are nuts. There is no reason to have so many rechargeable batteries to maintain. I have a field charger that can handle two batteries at once and an APU.

Only one of my jets has two RX batteries, and one with smoke uses the ECU battery to power the smoke pump.

My TX has a big enough battery that it's good for all day. I charge it at home overnight before flying. If the need arises I can charge on my field charger.

I usually charge the ECU and RX battery every other flight on my jets. This typically takes about 20 mnutes.

Air compressor, blower, fueler, and field charger are all powered by my 12v APU. My APU is nothing more than an automotive JumpStart with a built in compressor. I added a couple of bananna plugs to power my blower, fueler, and field charger. I also added a mini-panel for glow driver function and can plug in my starter for glow and gasoline planes. When I'm flying regularly I have to charge the APU every week or two at home.
