Roto Start
Does anybody know if the HPI Roto Start will work in a universal way? I'm assuming that as long as your start position is somewhere were the shaft will reach it should work... As long as the plate fits. Any ideas? I am looking to put it on a Duratrax Nitro Evader BX. The pull start is right on the side so it could easily be started by this with nothing in the way of the shaft. Any info would be great. Thanks.

RE: Roto Start
Won't work without modifying something.
The RotoStart turns counter-clockwise. If you remove the pull start on a standard car-truck engine, there are several methods to get the exposed shaft turning- but it must turn clockwise to start the engine.
So, you either rig up a counter gear so the counter-clockwise Roto-Start will get the engine shaft turning clockwise, or make an adapter plug so you can reverse polarity on the Roto-Start and make it turn clockwise. Of course, you will also need some sort of adapter on the engine shaft for the Roto-Start to grab.
I've been toying with the idea of doing Plan B (reversing polarity on the Roto-Start and fitting an adapter). I've been using a reversed electric drill and a Yank Eliminator to crank our RC-10, but that is somewhat unsatisfactory, for several reasons. I just got an MT2, and I like the Roto-Start concept. But I think it will be less hassle to just buy my grandson a Rush EVO; that way, no modding to do, and we'll have a spare Roto-Start...
