35% Extra 330LX - OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Tom,
I just wanted to take a few minutes and let you know how pleased I am
with your 35% Extra 330LX.
I have been flying for 35+ years, built tons of planes, and I own one of the
biggest R/C aircraft shops in the state of Utah.
I was in need of a big ARF, and your 35% Extra 330 more than satisfied
the needs.
This ARF is OUTSTANDING!!!!
No 2 ways about it...... I have NEVER
put an ARF of this size together in such a short amount of time.
My shop at home has several projects going, and I literally built
this plane in my office, sitting here at my desk, and a little bit of
working on the floor.
The craftsmanship is above and beyond, the covering job is tight, and
well done, and everything fit togther perfectly.
The hardware kit addresses every item, and the amount of work that is
done when the kit arrives, keeps builing to a minimum.
I would say that I have "maybe" 10 - 13 hours into this whole project.
I just wanted to take some time and let you know that you offer an
OUTSTANDING product.
My 330 will be powered by a DA 100 / Hitec Servo's / Futaba Radio
System
It balanced perfectly, and it will fly next weekend if the weather
holds out.
I commend you on a great product, service was great, as the plane
arrived 3 days after the order was placed, and it arrived in perfect
condition.
The packaging of this ARF is great........
An OUTSTANDING product..... and Outstanding service......
Thanks Again,

The color scheme, I believe is the newest Tom offers, White / Yellow / Blue / Red.
I will take some pics this week and post them, and some flying pics too if the weather in Utah decides to be kind.
Eddie, glad to hear that you like the way it flies.
I cannot believe how fast it assembled, and how well built it is. The covering is super tight, I left it out in the cold garage for a few nights, and it looked perfect.
Pics coming soon, Take Care Guys.

Hey Greg
If you are new to the giant scale scene and you plan to balance where the instructions call for. You will need 2 pounds of weight to get it at 4 inches back from the leading edge. I fly mine at 4.3/4 inches back and with the BME 110 I only have 1 pound up front. It still flies real comfortable and lands great Tom has said that the Extra will tolerate CG changes better than most planes. You just have to be comfortable where you place it. It will easily hover and the rudder is plenty effective to do a knife edge loop at about 65% throw.

RE: 35% Extra 330LX - OUTSTANDING!!!!!
OH
When I balanced then first Extra at 4 inches it flew great, but the sink rate was faster than I wanted so I moved it to where I have it now. At 4 3/4 it hold lines nice and I can slow my flight pattern down alot. My second has it at 5 inches and I cant tell a difference between them. The heaviest I wieghed in at was 29 pounds before removing some weight. The second Extra is roughly about 28 on my postal scale. However both planes in the air feel like they weigh 10 pounds. I have 50 oz tanks in both of them.

RE: 35% Extra 330LX - OUTSTANDING!!!!!
I agree the Wildhare 35% Extra 330LX is an awesome plane. I had mine DOD on the first flight. I felt very confident with it. Upright and inverted harriers are very good. Rolling harriers are smooth and axial. Torquerolls are done with ease and it hovers pretty darn good.
Setup:
DA100 on Cans
4 Hitec 5645s on Wings
2 5945s on Elevators
1 5735 on Rudder (more than enough I believe)
2 Multiplex IPD receivers
2 Duralite 4000mAh packs for receiver (too much LOL)
Sullivan Skywriter smoke system
Definitely a great flyer. Pretty light on the sticks even though I have a heavy setup. I love the way it flies for sure!!

RE: 35% Extra 330LX - OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Add my name to the long list of satisfied customers. Tom is an outstanding person to work with and my 35% Extra is the finest airplane this old country boy has ever flown.
Didn't have to add any weight or move anything to get perfect balance the first try with my 3W106. Flies like it is on rails.

RE: 35% Extra 330LX - OUTSTANDING!!!!!
The WildHare 35% extra is by far the Best Christmas gift my wife has ever got me.
AUW 27 lbs 4 oz dry (on my digital fish scale)
BME 110 Xtreme (stock exhaust)
BME 27 x 10 prop
Ailerons - Hitec 5945's
Elevators- Hitec 5945's
Rudder - Hitec 5735 (SWB arm)
Futaba 9CAP (Single PCM Rx)
2ea 6v 2000ma NiMH (Rx)
4.8v 2000 ma NiMH (IGN)
6v 1650ma NiMH Smoke Batt.
3ea Electrodynamic S/W's
Slimline smoke pump
Carbon Fiber Tailwheel
Carbon Fiber Wing Tube
Carbon Fiber Main Gear
Tom's Manual was excellent and I used and will continue to use several of his building ideas. With everything kept well forward, it balance's at 5 inches aft of the leading edge without any added weight. Thinking about hanging about a pound weight on the nose (at least for the first few flights). Not sure how accurate my digital fish scale is but at least at least the 27 lb 4 oz number makes me feel good even if it is wrong. Hope to get it in the air over the Christmas weekend. If this thing flies as good as you guys say, Tom maybe seeing some more of my money.[img][/img]

RE: 35% Extra 330LX - OUTSTANDING!!!!!
Got the first few flights on my 35% Extra today. WOW, this thing can 3D. Slows to a crawl and refuses to tip stall. This is the best flying airplane I have to date. It is my first 35%er (Have had two 25%- 28% gas airplanes) so don't know if it is the: larger flies better or the Wildhare design. It did everything well, torque rolls, flat spins, rolling harriers, waterfalls, etc, but what I was impressed with was the slow high alpa knife edge flight. I could get it crawl down the runway in knife edge. It did have some pitch coupling toward the wheels that I mixed out. Way to much fun. If you haven't but smoke on an airplane yet, do it. Nothing cooler than torque rolling with the smoke on where you can hardly see how close the tail is to the ground. Had to keep reminding myself to fly the airplane and not watch the smoke hitting the ground. By the way any advise on what to use to get the smoke oil residue off the airplane that is still ultracote friendly? Keep up the good work Tom/WildHare. Only have 4 flights on it but everything is still rock solid and looking good.
Still grinning ear to ear,
Dean

-Saucy-
I would think that combo would be fine.
The plane flies light on the sticks and can handle the weight well.
Prop for power, not speed, and you'll love the plane.
Somewhere around a 28 x 10 for your setup.

Changed the color scheme on the the wings on my 35% WH Extra. The original scheme wasn't ugly at all, just thought it needed a change. What do you think? [img][/img]

Looks great, maybe I'll use that one if you don't mind. I agree that the fuse is good but thye wings have been a bit busy. The next batch is already covered or I'd change right now.

Go for it Tom, the scheme is basically yours anyway. I just copied what was on the fuselage. I got the idea from your new extra 260 wing scheme. I like it alot better. But then opinions are like a------s everyones got one. I think maybe I should do the Horizontal tail also?[img][/img]
