just wondering...
so i have this 2 speed problem. i was just wondering. i had my o.s. engine for about 8 months now and its going to die real soon, its still running though, just not as fast as before. will that affect the two speed from not switching, or speed doesn't really matter???

If the engine is not performing to its full potential the tranny won't shift. It has to reach higher RPM's to shift properly if you say the engine is going to die just rebuild it and then tune the tranny.

first of all im confirming that you have part # 86038 from hpi, which is the two speed transmission. if so, then listen and i MIGHT have a solution. ok, once you slide every thing onto the drive shaft, there is the silver disk that has the two screws ( one of them is for the adjustment of the shift point.) that is supposed to go inside the thing in the second spur gear, once you slide that in, through the adjustment hole in the spur gear, put the allen wrench onto the screw that is NOT the adjustment one, and tighten that one ALL the way. make sure everything is snug and reasemble. that is what happened to my car once, for some reaosn that came loose and it wouldn't shift. if that does not work im sorry. but i tried.

Make sure you tighten it on the FLAT side of the shaft if that is the problem and use a bit of thread lock on the set screw so it won't back out again.
