I'm from the detroit area and plan on making the trip.
Has anyone been before, is it worth the five hour drive?
What percentage of the show will be RC cars and trucks?

who hoo 5 min from my condo! i hate when its in cali. unfortunatly a lot of larger companies wont be there due to the whole union thing. the spot is expensive enough, but you are not allow to hardly set up any part of your booth. no power, walls, carpet, large display... use the booth search feature and see what companines will be there.

The vendors were "snooty" the website said there would be a boat pond. There was not one. I like boats. Their was very little for sale. I saw a few "new" vendors with some cool products that the lhs don't carry, and I could not buy from them. And the demonstrations, like monster truck pulls, on road were terrible. I have seen more exciting stuff running down my street. I expected more "NEW" products. I get more info and more detail on new stuff at the LHS. Horizon was the only booth that had helpfull people and good demonstrations.
The traxxas guys looked bored and disgusted having to deal with the public. THeir Rustler drive for a $1 donation to ronald mcdonald house was terrible. They had the trucks on Learner mode and you could not get the trucks over 4 mph.
Maybe this is the norm, but like I said I had never been and the photos of RCX in the magazines made it look much cooler than it was. I know this was not RCX but I just expected more. Paid $11 to park, $20 for my wife and I to get in, and I saw everything except train stuff (which I don't car about) in about 1 hour and 20 minutes. I just expected a little more to see for my $31 dollars. It was also alot smaller than I expected.
All I am saying is if it comes around next time, I will not even bother to go.
I did however like the rock crawling wall.

I just went today, got in for free cuz i have my ways. I thought the show was great, but I noticed how Kyosho, Associated, and HPI were'nt at the show. However, some of the demos were great, i had a good time and talked to some people with quality information. Definately worth going to, I had a good time.
