MVVS .49 and .91 exhaust
What are the best exhausts for these engines? Everyone says they have great power but mine are just average at best. both engines they both handle great easy to start, throttle response,
low nitro but the power is missing. .49 10,200 on a 11x6 apc... .91 8,200 on a 14x8 wood prop. I am using the 2 chamber mvvs on both.

RE: MVVS .49 and .91 exhaust
Jeff,
MVVS engines are intended for tuned exhaust systems.
The normal mufflers are available, but are listed by the manufacturer; 'for trainers'.
Their compression is adjusted from the factory to support a tuned exhaust system.
The two-chamber #3245A and #3255A respectively are for sound controlled environments.
For the .49, you can get the #3248 tuned silencer, which will give you around 3,000 RPM more (the boost over the standard #3245 is 1,600-2,100 RPM).
For the .91, you can get the #3253 tuned silencer, which will give you around 9,400 RPM on this 14x8 prop, or the #3250 tuned pipe, which will increase this figure by 300-400.
Make sure you use fuel with up to 5% nitro and 20% oil, of which at least half is Castor.
If you shim up the head, up to 15% nitro can be used, but these engines run better with 5%, in stock condition.
