Talk about sticker shock! Holy crap! Why are the high powered .21"s so stinkin' expensive? You can get ultra high powered .15's for way less than $200 (I only paid $120 for my Fantom), and I'm supposed to pay twice that much for .06 more cubic inches? I'd really like to get into 1/8 scalers, but I'm finding out this scale may be prohibitively expensive. My only hope may be if the new Fantom .21 is priced around $200.

Nitroman
Where'd you get your 8 port for $135? That's a good price.

I don't know, maybe things are starting to turn around for me. All my orders from Tower have been right, and my last order, which was from Stormer Hobbies was right. Maybe I just need to be more choosy about where I order from.

Its not about the cubic inches.. its about the technology that goes into it.. IF you divide HP/CI.. I'm sure the 21 c lass will be better off in general

i was orginally going to get the hyper .21. i fugured the 8 port would be alot more but it isnt so im going with that. what scares me is that towerhobbies is selling the original hyper .21 as the same price as im getting the 8 port for. why is the 8 port the same price as the original .21 hyper?
original hyper: 1.9bhp@35,000 rpm
hyper 8 port:2.5bhp@38,000 rpm
original hyper: 1.9bhp@35,000 rpm

Ofna has 3 .21 engines listed at 2.7 hp. The Picco 0-1 BP, the Picco 0-1, and the Hyper 8 port race. The Hyper 8 port is rated at 2.5 hp. How much more $$$ are the 2.7 hp engines?

My fault. I guess the title of this thread wasn't specific enough. It should say "no way I'm paying $300-$400 for a .21 with at least 2.5 hp."

Stormer has the 8 port (not the race) for $138, and the Picco 0-1 for $239. I don't know if .2 hp is worth another $100. Besides, you may be able to make up the difference by using one of Ofna's dual chambered tuned pipes. These pipes supposedly increase both bottom end torque and high end hp.
