Default Latest KMP P-38 out (09-23-05)

Andrew said they would be coming in port on Sept 19 but I didn't expect to get mine this fast (Ohio).
Not that I'm complaining on getting her too fast so I should be about the first on the block with my new toy.
All arrived with no damage and all parts appear to be included.

Pic 1: Box as it comes (minus protective box).

pic 2: As it arrived with box lid off.

pic 3: Front view and all hardware, etc.

pic 4: side view

pic 5: retracts. Now, these look sturdy. Much better than those that came with the B-25.
These appear that they will hold up. Will check for excess play, etc, later.

pic 6: It appears that the stab problem (too much) has been resolved but Andrew said no changes were made!
You pilots with one already can answer this!

pic 7: stab inserted into the boom.

one more winter project!

I got my KMP p-38 in june and yesterday was it's first flight. It took KMP a few weeks to send me the right landing gear and as for the retracts lets just say theirs nothing better than robart. The stock one leak and the value is pretty ****ty. I have twin RCV 91 and 13 by 8 3 bladed props. I have 12 servos, the battery is a 6.0v 2200m and a on board glow driver. I installed the battery and glow driver in the nose and it balanced without adding any wieght. The nose gear is pretty cheaply made and while making a flyby notice the front wheel turned sideways. I landed in some tall grass and now going to save up for better gear. Good luck with yours and I hope you have the ver. 5 ARF

HannaDay look at the picture of the retracts, are they like yours? I got one of the very first of the first gen and I've got lots of flight on it but the gear is acrap shoot on if they are going to work. Looking at the pics here there have been many changes since then.

I was thinking about picking up the KMP P-38, to replace my VQ (sniff), and had just put my Spring-air retracts on Ebay (since the KMP comes with them).

You guys are making me rethink that.

evan-rcu,

Hey the spring air retracts from KMP really sucks. When I installed them in the plane one of them leaked and KMP sent me one seal. So if another one leaks I'll have to order from them. Laet weekend was the first flight the front nose gear turned to the side on take off and one of the covers for the back landing gear came loose while make my second pass. I have used silicone gasket sealer to hopefully fix the problem. I'm am however try to get a hold of the guys in the forktailed devil squardron. They have p-38 from G&P sales, KMP,and VQ models. They have opertating gear doors and bombs. Robart air retracts are my next buy. I'll let you know or email me at [email protected] the plane weighs around 14lbs, I'm running thr RVC 91's a 3 bladed props 13 x8 and they are running at 8300rpm model airplane news did a review in july 2005 on the KMP P-38 Good luck!

I guess you are using the RCV 91CD engine (normal crank. piston, connecting rod configured engine) not the SP Model; how well do they fit in the KMP P-38, much butchering of the cowl, what about the exhaust/muffler fit. Thanks
