Default Hurley Extra or Carden Extra? Don't know what to choose.

Looking to go a little bigger, and I like to build. Does anyone have any experience with both of these planes? What are the pros and cons? Both are well engineered, and the Hurley is easily kitted. Both will be around the same cost when your done it looks like. Looking for any comments which one to chose.

Thanks for any advice, mark

I have never seen a Hurley so can't comment on them. I have built a few Carden's and I can tell you they are among the very best. They are well designed, contain high quality wood and foam, nice plans and build quick. I find they fly extremely well and are pretty tough for those rare times you might not do things just right. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

HI ml3456-RCU, I have seen Mike Hurley fly the prototype and the extra from the magizeen article. Both fly fantastic! And cause everyone to drool when ever he brings them to the field!

In my never to be humble opinion, Ether would serve your needs!/desirers!

Hi There,

I have never flown the Carden 33-35% plane so I couldn't say how it flies.

I did have the good fortune of flying Mike's magazine plane at the Tucson Shootout after my FC 3m Extra went in .

Mike's plane is by far the BEST FLYING EXTRA i have ever flown!!!!!

I tried to talk him in to designing a 38-40% Extra because I like 40% type planes..When he does design the bigger version ,I will be the first one to build one.......

Get the Carden. We had someone flying the Hurley in IMAC this year but he decided to sell it to get a Carden 35%.

I've got forty flights on the Mike Hurley 35% extra now and by far it is the best flying 35% I've ever flown. I think a lot of it is how well you build. You won't be disappointed!

sherili,
I am currently building my Hurley. I have the fuse framed and the hatch and turtle deck sheeted. I am about ready to start on the wings and tail section. I am going to be putting a DA 100 in it for power. What engine are you running and do you know what weight yours came out at? It seems that they have been coming out in the 28 lb. range. I was hoping for somewhere in the 26-27 lb. range. I am trying to keep the airplane as light as possible for max 3D performance.
Thanks, Travis
