Tmaxx muffler for the rear?
Im not sure if I want to jump up to the .18 engine yet.
Im using the OS .15 cv-x "I think that it" I bought it years ago it has the gold head and blue engine body if that helps"
But anyway my maxx is all aluminum so its rather heavy that why I was thinking of going .18 but still might hold off.My problem isnt power or speed with my current engine the problem is when I installed this new engine it came with a slide carb,So I had to remove the side mounted muffler to put the linkage post I made to pull/close the slide carb. Then I went with the stinger 360 pipe it just looped around and pointed out the back over the shock tower.
This is fine for bashing but I started racing at a track and the stinger pipe would get cloged with dirt if you landed wrong on a jump and shut it off,THIS SUCKS.
So im just wondering what pipe set ups are out there that will solve my problem??
And also about these os.18 engines, they bolt right in or do you need to do mods to fit them in,Im using the old stock original chassis,Thanks

Only thing I would say, since I cant see your car is make a custom tip, Cut like a Rubber tube and have it come to the side or however you have it, I did it with my RC10GT and it worked great, had the same problem, I made a custom exhaust for it but when it landed wierd the dirt went in the tip, But come to think of it, I should just have made another one lol

This OS .18 is a direct drop in for the Pro.15 Maxx. But, since you've already made some mods I don't know how it wiould go on your truck.

This is a direct drop in for the 2.5r. It may work better for you since you've already changed the throttle linkage.

Only you can tell for sure.
For your exhaust problem. Why not just use a silicone exhaust deflector to keep dirt out of the pipe?

RE: Tmaxx muffler for the rear?
That looks good,I think I want the .18 engine, what about the carbs,,whats the advantage between slide carb, and Rotary,is there much of a difference?
As far as my linkage mod its nothing,I just took a sterring post from the maxx, removed the side muffler.Drilled a hole where the muffler laid, screwed it to the frame, and at the top of the post put a bellcrank linkage to open and close the carb.
But I just did that because my engine came with slide, plus I heard slides are better?
But I would have no probs droping in that engine and going back to rotary if there isnt a difference.
Also just too see what options I have, would it be possible to use my slide carb from my .15 cv-x,and slap it on this .18......Thanks alot guys

The slide carbs are susposed to have two advantages. First they are susposed to provide better air flow since any air entering the engine goes straight thru the carb to the engine rather than around the carb barrell. And, second they are susposed to have faster response times. I've never really been convinced that your basic basher or amature racer could really tell that much difference. I know I've never tried the same engine with different carb styles to try to tell if one is better or not.
I don't know about your question about the carb. I'd say that it may work but that the needle settings would be way different. In the end it probably depends on weather the carb throat sizes are the same.
Here's another option.

But, it's not a direct drop in. I believe that you'ld have to cut the threaded part of the crankshaft down a bit and maybe get a clutch nut adapter but your header and exhaust should fit. Here are directions for swapping out a 2.5r to an OS 18 CV-RX. The Pro.15 is a bit different but it will give you the general idea.

RE: Tmaxx muffler for the rear?
Slimeline makes a nice rear mounted exhaust pipe..I used to use w/ the OS mills/ 2.5 / P2 / Fantom .18...worked reasonably well w/ all them....get 2 pipe extenders and have them point out so it keeps the truck cleaner.....

RE: Tmaxx muffler for the rear?
Yea I looked at that one,,Cutting the shaft is no problem,I had to do it for my current engine too.But it says its for single speed"or would be best for" single speed transmissions,,My maxx is 2 speeds.
Would this be a prob?
I think just for the hell of it,Ill stick with the Slide carbs, but I dont think theres much a difference.

I had that pipe on both types of Maxx trannies...very generic pipe but it was a lot better than the stock one.....I got it in trade and had no other backup pipe to use one day...tried it and never used anything else until I got an RD logics one peice pipe for the maxx

RE: Tmaxx muffler for the rear?
I had the slimeline dual rear exhuast on my maxx and it seemed like it slowed the truck down as my friend would have a bunch more low end with his 2.5 than mine.
