Ever hear the old saying about computers....garbage in = garbage out ?
Same thing with nitro motors....poor tuning = poor running.
It does not matter which brand.
To be fair, some engines do tune easier and hold it longer and the 2.5r can be picky sometimes. But, get it right and it a very nice little motor.

A nitro motor isnt something you can start up and run all day perfecty. Usually you will start it up, and let the motor warm up. Then take about 5-10 min to get it tuned in. Then you are ready for the day.
The 2.5 is hard to get it in tune just right. Usually if your motor is cutting off then it is running to lean and over heating or its to rich and "loading up" which means getting to much fuel faster than the motor to burn in and flooding the motor.

My trx 2.5 in my maxx and the 2.5r in my rusty will both idle through a full tank without stalling once I get them tuned for a particular day. But before they are warmed up or tuned right for a given day they will tend to stall from time to time if you try ti idle excessively.

my t-maxx when I first got it would die at about 3/4, again at 1/2 tank and once more at about 1/4 tank or so... it frustrated me, I grabbed one of the other maxx's that I had at the time, and both of them were doing the same thing. Finally I said screw the other two and worked on just one, eventually mine came around to run through the tank of fuel.. I think it was settings and break in (all trucks were new), mine now runs just fine once it is tuned..

My revo and LST can run through a full tank of gas without dying. If it has problem doing that, usually is caused by tuning or something broken inside. They got idle problem before because of broken clutch shoes.

if it just stops suddenly that's usually an indication of some part binding....usually CB bearings or shoes.....or the engine is not lined up perfectly w/ the spur gear.....

Yeah the 2.5s are really picky, i mean REALLY
especially when trying to tune.
but i did a good job on break-in, so i can usually idle through a tank of gas, even when i havent tuned my revo yet.

I am pretty new with tunning, but my truck really never dies. I have a tmaxx with a megatech .16 in it. Its not the best engine, but I am a newbie so it is a good engine to learn on. But with your truck dieing, it all depends on how you tune it.
