High authority tail motor
Hi,
Has anyone else fitted the high authority motor from Helihobby.com, I only ask as I have had a couple of problems with mine.
Firstly the motor did not come with any mounting screws so I used the ones from the standard motor which seemed to fit although the thred within the motor has either disintergrated or the screws are to small. I didn't apply anything but extremely light pressure and I can't see how they could have been damaged due to being over tightening.
Secondly it didn't seem to be a very comfortable fit.
Thirdly the pinion felt quite lose so I used some threadlock which did seem to work OK.
I've had to go back to the old motor while I'm working out what to do next. Any ideas anyone?
Cheers,
David

Exactly the same problem mate. I ended up using selt-tapping screws of a similar size and chicking in some thread lock for good measure.
The fit is not great, but good enough.
I actually found it too tail-heavy after fitting so removed it. I'll put it back on when my current tail fries.

Hi,
I got this reply to an email to Helihobby.com:-
Hello David,
You would also need to get part# 68252
Look here:
http://www.helihobby.com/html/productSummary.html
Thank you for your interest in HeliHobby,
Sean - HeliHobby.com
I know I'm moaning but I wish they had made this clear at the point of ordering.
Cheers,
David

High authority tail motor
Hi,
Fitted to the standard tail motor is a small componant across the terminals (maybe a capacitor or something) however on the high authority motor has nothing with it.
Does anyone know what this componant is, what it does and if I need one for the repacement (high authority motor) and if so what type????
Cheers,
David

It's a capacitor. Ideally you have one going from positive to negative and another from positive to the engine casing.
It / they are there to reduce the amount of radio interference from the motor (which is constantly sparking, hence producing radio waves).
Just swap it over.
I run with none with no problems.
