Christin Eagle, GP...Choke
I mounted the Fuji 50 EI on my GP CE. The instruction manual from GP shows a simple choke rod but there is no way this will work as the choke is much too hard to push pull except on a straight line. Any one else have this problem? What did you do to fix it?
I heard that the steel brackets that are used to mount the wings and wires break from the vibrations, I can't find better material locally so I was thinking of silver soldering (the hard stuff) a small piece of piano wire into the bend as a gusset.. any thoughts?

I installed a Hitec HS-81 on the side of the motor box. It is programmed into one of my knobs of the front of my Futaba 9C. All the way counter-clockwise is choke enabled, all the way clockwise is choke disabled. My Fuji is the BT-50SA, which has a sliding cover for a choke mechanism.
The metal brackets (I'm not sure they pass as steel in my definition book) are hard and BRITTLE. The way they bend them creates a weak spot because it creases the metal. I have broken one set. I replaced it with a set I fabricated with aluminum angle stock. This turned out to be not sufficent, because when I dead-stick my Eagle into an electric fence the impact did no damagle to the wing but did cause my aluminum brackets to break just like the original. I since ordered and received replacement brackets from Great Plains. I'm still looking for a better alternative. Unfortunately I don't have the equipment to mill my own brackets out of solid stock.

I looked for aircraft alum stock but not luck. And I cannot find any steel angle that works, its all too thick. Thats why i thought that a gusset in the weak spot would fix the problem.
My choke is the flap style automotive type, it appears it has a dent ball built in some where because I can feel it engauge. It takes alot of power to move the choke lever.. of course it is really short which does not help. I mounted my ignition on the side of the engine mount box so I have no room for a servo outside of the plane, if I bring it inside it would take a steel pushrod to activate it and I would be afraid of glitches. I think I will play with a bellcrank arrangement
