Really quiet muffler...
I have some old crotchety neighbors that like to complain about the noise of my Cen Matrix Buggy with a stock NX-26 engine. Is there any type of muffler I can get that will make it significantly quieter? Can I make something like a gun silencer that might possibly help? I understand I will lose performance, and have to re-tune but that is not a huge concern. Gimme some ideas guys!

Some cars have a rubber tube that hangs off the stinger of the muffler. I'v heard that when you remove that it gets louder. Maybe if you added one it would quiet it down a bit.

Yeah I have one of those exhaust deflectors already, and it does quieten it down a little bit, but not a whole lot.

untill the cops make you quitt running it, tell the nieghbors to mind there own buisiness... im sure theres much louder "tuner cars" cruizing the streets and they arnt getting in trouble for it... not to long ago i called the cops on my nieghbor cause he felt the need to run a chainsaw all night, it was 4 am when i called them, and they said it was private property so he wasnt doing anything wrong...

You can try wrapping the pipe with some fiberglass. I know there's not much room for doing that, but if you can manage doing it, it should quiet it down quite a bit.

But about the rc car just run it. But dont do it late a night and early morning. Who cares if your neighbors dont like it. And the worst thing that can happen is the cops can tell you to stop or your neighbors tryes to run it over. [:@]Then you have a reason to call the cops.

Well I know in the county where I live in, it's basically all farm land. And you basically aloud to make noise all night long if ya wanted to, now playing the music as loud as ya want at 3am will probably get ya in trouble. But it's zoned agricultural, so tractor and everythign else that makes noises are allowed to make as much noise as ya want and ya cant get in trouble for it. But to get back on topic, our Rc's dont make that much noise. Tell them your not doing anyhting illegal, and if they keep opn harrasing you about it turn the tables. Tell them if they keep on harrasing you, you'll call the cops on them for harrasment. You just have to tell them to stop twice in the state of PA(dont know how it is in Canada though) and if they continue to do it, it's then considered harrasment. I mean as long as your not running it at 12 midnight or 4 am then your fine.
good luck

I'm not the home owner, I'm renting a basement suite, and the renters beside me are the ones complaining. The people upstairs own the house, so pretty much what they say goes weather I like it or not unfortunately. I'll just take it down the street from now on.

Ahhhh yeah, then your between a rock and a hard place. Kinda hard to make a rc quite to the point where it doesnt annoy pesky neighbors. It could be an electric rc and they would prolly say it's to loud, as thats just how grumpy old pesky neighbors are LOL. But yeah prolly better in this situation to go down the street and drive it, or go to a local parking lot and drive around.

I read through this thread but the threadstarter's question is still not answered - any recommendation for quiet pipes/mufflers ? I've been considering to buy a Nitrage and have the same question..... from all the reading I've done so far I've come up with nothing much
