My BH 50%Edge540 Maiden Flight
I finally maidened my Bill Hempel 50%Edge540 with EVO300Magnesium engine last Saturday at Rabbot Dry Lake in the high dessert of California. All went well, the plane flyes extremely well. No trim was necessary after take off and CG seems to be very close to where I want it. It is extremely stable and responsive. The rudder responsiveness is overwhelming. The engine needs some trimming and adjusting but at least my baffling worked well. Temperatures of 160-175F were measured on the cylinders/heads after the first flight.
I was very very conservative on the first flight. I flew it one more time that day and did some high alpha harriering around, it was very stable.
