Default Staudacher GS 300 - 61 & Kyosho giles 202

Ok I need some info on these 2 plane. I will be running a OS61FX and 3001 or 3001 servos. I am also interested in the
you-can-do 3d but I hear these servos wouldn't be sufficiant and at this time Iv only got about 300 bucks that I need to use on a new plane.

How are these planes?

Thunder Tiger Stardacher 60 ARF, .60, 65" -- Im very interested in this one.

Staudacher GS 300 - 61

Kyosho giles 202

Default Staudacher GS 300 - 61 & Kyosho giles 202

Ive flown both, I own the Kangke GS300 with TT91 four stroke and it flies great, very smooth, quality is excellent. The Kyosho giles I flew belongs to a freind, it flies good but really not very impressed with it, it is closer to a 40 size ship, even though it is considered a super quality series, I didnt see the quality, the cowl is cheap, and the parts to replace if needed are extremely high, if you look at a wing kit for it, it costs $199.00, and a fuse kit is $199.00, and the other replacement parts are very high too.

I would recommend the Kangke GS300 over the Kyosho Giles, you might want to look at the Kangke Cap 232 too it is also a nice flying bird. You can do a search on the Kangke models, and get a lot of useful info. Any other questions, just ask. Daz...

OK iv decided on the ace Staudacher 60 after doing some research. it seems there are a few bugs but nothing that can't be fixed. Are these servos going to be ok for this plane? I am going to order later tonight If nothin bad is said

This is should be a very good combination of plane / engine / servos. Let us know how it flies.

Youll love the Staudacher GS300. I have one and love it! I have also owned the Kyosho giles 202. It is small for a 60 size plane. I mounted a Tower 75 W/Tuned pipe, and as much control throw as I could. I did enjoy flying it, but not as much as th GS300.

Default ITS HERE!!

The brown truck droped off my new plane today!!! Everything looks very good and seems to be great quality. The one thing I'm not sure about are the hinges that are supplied. They are like paper!! Iv always used metal hinges in the past so im not familiar with these. Should i replace them ??? Im going to get at it right away so I can get it flying this weekend. Also, Is there any control surfaces that would need a higher tork servo, I always see people saying they have a rudder servo with like 100 oz. Is this realy nessisary????

I never use those type hinges, I always toss those, but I've heard of people using them with success. As far as the servo's I would recommend a high torque on the rudder, unless you dont plan on doing any type of knife edge manuevers. If you do plan on those type of manuevers, you should try a pull/pull system on rudder with high torque servo, and use dual elevator servos(std servo's like a futaba 3004), with some dave brown fiberglass pushrods. I used a Hobbico cs71 which is very inexpensive (a bit slow) and produces over 100 oz @ 4.8V. Havent had any problem...yet. This is set up on a pull - pull. I used dual Futaba 3004 in the tail for the elevators. Since I mounted a YS 120 in the nose, I had plenty of room for added weight in the tail. Set up is working fine with about 60 flights so far.

throw out the stock horns a small rods for the elev and rudder.

The stock horns are garbage, and the rods are metric.....about the size of a 2-56 but they will flex....now is the time to use 4-40.

The plane needs a hi torq rudder AND elevator, I lost an s3004 in the elevator, it just started searching for center one day in pre-flight check...........thank god.

has hot glue on the fire wall, add some braces and epoxy them in.
I had my wall come out!

Tint the canopy and take the baby blue pin stripe off. The plane looks mean with out the baby blue! Soak the canopy in rit blacj dye and hot water for 2 hours, gives a tint that you can still see through.

I had a saito 100 in mine and it was sick, a tower 75 would work great as well if you ever get an extra $119 to throw in it.

I could never get mine to 3d, it always wanted to "snap" out, but is one of the best precision aerobatic planes I have ever flown.

A real great looking plane in the air.....very scale.

Have fun and start the CG a little foward, this plane is a bear to land with the stock CG and an empty tank.

Thanks for the tips, I will be taking a trip to my LHS to get some of the items recomended. What servos would you recomend for the elevator and rudder?? No more than $50.00 a piece and preferably futaba.

Thanks

I would go with Futaba 3004's all the way around, with dual elev. servos, and Rudder Hitec 625MG, or 645MG with pull/pull. I have never had a problem with any of the 3004 servo's, or Hitec's. Daz...

You install dual elevator servo's the same way you would with a single elevator servo, just do it for both sides. They may already have an opening on both sides of the fuselage for pushrod exits for pull/pull rudder, and dual elevator pushrods, you may have to modify servo tray to fit 2 elevator servo's, and 1 rudder servo, dremel usually works good for this. I placed my servos in the tail (needed the weight anyway). I found cut outs in the airframe directly below the leading edge of the horizontal stab. They were a bit too wide, but it didnt really matter with only 40 oz per half. The only problem I encountered was the depth of the servos were deeper than the width of the fuse in the rear. I had to shim the servo mounts slightly, under the screws to keep them from bottoming out against each other.

Otters method is even better, especially like he said if you need the tail weight anyway, and that way you get shorter pushrods resulting in more pushrod rigidity. Daz...

Default Staudacher GS 300 - 61 & Kyosho giles 202

I got the plane a while back..... Im flying it with an OS 61 FX, Not the best power but it does alright. I ended up putting a pull pull and used the rudder rod and the suplied y rod with one of the rods cut off so I had 2 exact elevator rods. I installed the 2nd servo where the throttle servo is suppoesed to be and I epoxied the throttle servo right on the firewall. It took a while to get the cg right on mine...I ended up putting a 2700 mah pack as far forward as possible and even more weight under the firewall. A bit heavy but Still flyes very good.

Default Staudacher GS 300 - 61 & Kyosho giles 202

I finished my Super Kraft Staudacher last week and it was like every other Super Kraft is, excelent. I'm running a Hitec 605 with pull-pull on the rudder, one 605 on the elevator and 425's on ailarons. I also put a GMS 120 2stroke in it and it weighed in at 71/2 # it took an ounce of weight in the tail and the battery mounted behind the wing saddle to balance it toward the rear of recomended c.g. not bad for the size of the motor. My flyin bud has one and it will knife edge as far as you want it to in fact he flys it in knife edge so much I don't think it realy flys straight and level, he had to mix out a little coupling toward the belly I think and that was it it's a very nice flying plane I can't wait to get mine in the air guess I'll test fly it with ski's gonna be in the 30's and 40's over the weekend yahoo!!
