New to Gasser's,please help
I was wondering where you guys buy alot of your supplies,such as props,landing gears,wheels,etc..... I have a 31cc Ryobi conversion,I am told the 18x8 prop suits it best? What oil mix are you guys running(40:1 or 32:1) ?? My plane is gonna weigh 12-14 lbs dry weight ,what would be the toughest LG(3/16" or 1/4" wire gear) or aluminum strap style gear?

For the proper mix of your engine, it varies accoding to the brand. For example my G45 run about 40:1!!!
For the accesories of this types of planes there are a lot of people that specialise in this giant scale planes. Here are some examples,

Hi,
Get some realy good quality synthetic 2 stroke oil, I use Silkolines comp 2 pre-mix which i run at 50:1.
The prop size sounds like its in the right ball park for its engine capacity.
You'll never go back to glows!

New to Gasser's,please help
alex said it all....I would say out of those though, Dons hobby in Salina KS is the place. He is very nice to deal with, and will steer you in the right direction......watch out though......once you go gas, its' hard to come back. They are very easy to run and set-up...once you get your routine down. Have fun!

yeap I Agree, Dons Hobby is the best!! he have a book that I recommend a lot to new gas flyers its very good, Ihave it!! lol
He makes my first giant scale being completed. Call him!!! hes a nice person!

I no longer am a member of the IMAA but if you're new into giant scale, it's worth joining just for the magazine.
As far as oil mix, even gas engines can soot things up a bit so I finally went to Amsoil synthetic which is a 100:1 mix. I like to error on the safe side so I mix it at 80:1 and not only do all my gas engines NOT build up carbon over time, they burn much cleaner as well. The only thing to watch for is that you should break your new engine in with a standard mix oil. If you start running it with Amsoil when new, it'll take forever to break in.
