If you're brand new to nitro and getting a Traxxas car/truck then I'd suggest that you read the owners manual and watch the DVD and follow their break-in instructions exactly as they say. It's not a bad method and will keep you in warranty guidelines should a problem develope.
Here's Traxxas' web site. There's tons of info on here including the owners manual for the truck you're looking at, tuning and break in help, hop up tips and LOTS of other stuff too. It's the best manufacturers website I've found and well worth browsing the site and reading their material weather you buy/own Traxxas or not. Look under "Support Central" and you'll see waht I mean.

If you're still intrested in the heat cycle break in method then you can do a search, there's lots of posts and info on it on this fourm. But basically it's: Set the engine only slightly rich, start and run the vehicle for 3 - 5 minutes and get the engine temp to between 200 - 210 degrees f, turn it off, put the piston at BDC (bottom dead center), let it cool to below 100 deg f, repeat 6 - 8 times then tune for performance.

But, as I said, if you're a nitro newbie, I don't reccomend that you do this method. Just use the manufacturer's reccomendation for break in.
