.91 DF sized A/T-37 "tweet"
Does anyone know if there are plans or a kit available for a A/T-37 "tweet" that is sized to work with a .91 DF setup? I did a search on here and someone else asked the same exact question over 2 years ago and never got a single reply. Hoping maybe something has changed since then

I doubt that you'll find a T-37 designed for ducted fans. The engine nacells are so small that if you built a model big enough for the fans to fit in the nacells, the airplane would be too big & heavy to fly on the available thrust.
The availability of micro turbines has made MANY aircraft feasable that weren't before, for that very reason.

Thanks for the replies guys. Well, I guess that idea is shot out of the water I thought that would make nice fan trainer and be scale to boot.

I am thinking of redoing the A 37 in 1/6 scale, but it will still be too big for DFs. I am thinking of two P60s or P70s right now. Its still a year out from starting.

Sung, that would be sweet. 2 P-60 size would rock. Somehow keep it real light.
The GWM version is too unreal to believe in person but sure seems like a production to get together and in the air. Dragonfly!

RE: .91 DF sized A/T-37 "tweet"
Hello All,
I fly the real thing as a T-37 Instructor Pilot at Columbus AFB, MS. We (The Air Force) will only be flying them for a few more years (slated to be replaced by the turboprop T-6 Texan II), but I defintely agree it would be a sweet scale model. The Golden West version seems quite large, and it quite pricey for the kit. A somewhat similar aircraft in shape and general design of intakes, the F-9 panther with its small twin frontal intakes has been successful (JHH version), even though that is single engine with twin intakes and one exhaust, the Tweet has twin intakes and twin exhaust. It seems possible that you could creat a DF/turbine kit with a single turbine or DF with a birfurcated pipe of somesort.
I have several pictures in my personal archive and access to many more if needed if someone was going to undertake the project. I am about to start on my first DF/Jet a JHH F-86, still considering having it built due to my time contsraints with work, but I am anxious to get into the R/C "jet" world! Take care -

Aaron,
I lived in Lubbock for several years and watched the T-37's (and -38's) fly out of Reese AFB all the time. That's one of the reason's I was interested in a smaller scale T-37 to build.

Jetnfast,
Thought about the single engine but figure we would lose too much power to the bifurcated pipe. Gotta keep in mind how wide the fuse is and how short it is. The Panther is much narrower and longer and with a single exhuast pipe.
If you have more pictures and details and access to the planes I would be interested for the next project.

More pics as requested. I agree its alot wider between the two engines and this poses a "scale design" issue, it would have to bee larger in size. I am sure its possible like the goldenwest A-37. Anyways, here is some more pictures, take care!

A T-37 with a snowbirds paint scheme is ofter confused with what it really is, a Canadair CT-114 Tutor. These trainers are single engine, with a T-Tail. It is similar to the tweet in that it has side by side seating which is great for instructing compared with the tandem configuration of a T-38 or the T-37 replacement -- the T-6 Texan II. The pic below is a Tutor. -
