If you have deans plugs installed, unsolder them, or cut the wires off the plug(s), install the tamiya plug pins and push them into the plug plastic parts.

You could have simply made an adapter from Tamiya to Deans. I made one from Tamiya to Micro Plug 2NR and another from Tamiya to Power Plug (4 pin). I also made an adapter from the 2 pin to a 4 pin as well as some other adapters. If you wonder why, it's because I have several types of chargers and the LHS didn't seem to stock any of the 4 pins when I was setting up various battery packs, dischargers and so on. I'll probably make an adapter for the Ultra Plug too since I have some spares as of yesterday.

RE: how to convert deans to tamiya?
same here. It's adapto-rama aroud here. It seems that every time I go to an out of town race i wind up misplacing one adapter or another so I make a new one when i get home. Of course the missing unit always seems to surface after a while so I've got about 6 or 8 rec pack adapters floating around. Also, for the tamiya plug you can use small aligator clips with no problems.

I even have an adapter from a 4 pin to a smaller set of alligator clips and one to a standard set of alligator clips. I made those after I originally cut off the alligator clips that came with one of my chargers. The smaller set works pretty good with the Tamiya plug too.

I haven't paid much attention regarding Turkey Day since I probably won't be in town. The only things on my mind lately are the NASCAR/Champ Car Race (Sept), Hobby Visions (Oct) and SEMA (Nov).
One of the dirt tracks may be getting sold, so I have no idea on that one and the sale is still up in the air as of Friday. One of the local HobbyTowns has been holding "afternoon" races and should be moving from Fridays to Saturdays soon, but Turkey weekend? If you were here or rather in Sandy Valley on November 12-14, you could probably race. 4Aces only has their schedule up through the end of this month, but the Fall Classic (Paris Race) is October 21-24, which doesn't do you any good. Quarter scale is also racing October 6-9 and November 13. If I learn of any races Turkey Weekend and I remember, I'll post some information.
You can always go to the Speedway and watch: B&M Racing and Super Competition. http://www.lvms.com/track_info/strip/schedule
Edit: Did you ever fly RC helicopters? I just picked up RealFlight G2 Friday night and have been trying it out. I've tried three helis so far and I have a more difficult time getting the trainer off the ground and hovering.
