Reassembling O.S. 90 piston/sleeve
Looking for a good technique to get the ringed piston to slide into the sleeve for re-assembling my old OS 90 2 stroke. I find I need to install connecting rod onto crankshaft throw first. Is there a way to get connecting rod on to crank throw if I install piston in sleeve first, then insert into cyl? Couldn't get it apart this way. Had to remove sleeve first to allow removal of connecting rod. Not enough lateral play.

RE: Reassembling O.S. 90 piston/sleeve
The piston/ring has to be assembled to the connecting rod
The assembly is then assembled onto the crankshaft with the crankpin at about 11:00 when looking in the rear of the engine
The ring is a pinned ring and the sleeve will niot go down over the piston/ring unless the ring is in the proper position about the pin
The sleeve must have the ports turned correctly. If a ring gap drops into a port on the sleeve - it will all be history. You cannot get it together or apart.

RE: Reassembling O.S. 90 piston/sleeve
Thanks for the tip. Thats what I was looking for, but unfortunately, when I got it all lined up, it slid right in...but dang it if the piston ring didn't break! So now where does one find a piston ring for an OS 90, not 91.... of unknown vintage? Is there anywhere to obtain parts for these old engines??? Again, many thanks....
