Need transmission help with Traxxas Tmaxx 3.3
I just purchased a used Tmaxx 3.3. I believe it is the first model with an upgraded 3.3 engine. It appears to have a single speed transmission with no reverse. What is the preferred transmission for the tmaxx? I see that there are single speed, 2 speed, and 2 speed with reverse. I like the idea of a 2 speed.

I don’t think there is much of a difference between the transmissions other than capability. Personally, I’d find a 2spd transmission without reverse. The reverse just adds weight. You might want to look at the parts lists for the single speed trans versus the 2spd so you can have the right clutchbell and spur gear.

Trx trans
Carviwalls, to the best of my knowledge a T-Maxx never came out with a single speed trans. Some of the Emax did, and people that converted them over to Electric installed forward only single speed conversions. Most likely someone has messed with the second gear engagement screw and you're stuck in first or second gear. Check the manual on how to adjust second gear, tighten the set screw all the way in until snug, and then back it out six turns. That should give you a starting point. Depending on your spur in clutch ratio and a tire size you will need to adjust it in quarter turn increments beyond that. Screw it in a quarter turn for a later shift, out a quarter turn for earlier shift.
