I'd go with a 1/24 Losi micro truggy 4x4 most likely. I have a micro desert truck (1/36), but it's honestly too small for outdoor use without pavement, and being only 6 ounces and 2WD, spends most of it's time spinning out.

Get THIS charger: http://www.hobbypartz.com/73p-ac680-accharger.html
I've got that Dynam charger, and while it's ok, the fan is noisy. The AC680 is quiet, AND charges at up to SIX amps, compared to five amps with the dynam. So, shorter charge times.

Personally I like the RC18b for smaller
In the lower bracket I own Merv (not bad but needs a lot of extras), RC18b, Mini Recon(turd), and a Losi micro high roller(junk too)

I have a mini revo for just those cases. Its a very expensive car though. It's expensive to buy and needs a TON of hopups before being anything close to durable or good handling. When you put the cash in though, you do end up with a great car. Would I do it again given the choice? No, I'd probably get the Losi mini 8 instead,

How I feel about the merv. I have over $100 in aftermarket parts on it to make it decent. Wish I never bought it, but couldn't find anyone to buy it when I wanted to dump it prior to getting all the parts (seriously 1st RC I ever tried selling) now its semi decent, but still coulda got a better RC from the get go with how much I dumped into it.

I have a mini Summit, very fun and kinda small. The only thing I have replaced was the speedo and motor.

I have taken a liking to the RC18... Though now I'm realizing that the little RC's are almost just as expensive as the big ones! doh!
I may have to get one regardless because I cant take living in a hotel, working long hours, dealing with idiots, eating crappy food, not having my lady in bed, and last but not least: NO RC.
Its hell sometimes...

That isn't anything if you want to see expensive look at dnano's 1:43 scale RC's those are like $250-300 JUST for the car, the controllers like $120 extra I almost shat my pants when I saw the cost as I wanted one
