List of 40-60 size twin engine kits
Looking to put together a twin, looking at the twinstar, but want something a little less boxy, something with a little more curves.
If you guys can list all the twins in this size range that would be great, im guessing the twinstar is considered a 40.
Thanks
David

David:
The Twin-Air 40 from Northeast Aerodynamics is an excellent plane, but it is a bit boxy.
For a sleek twin the only choice is the Duellist 2/40, the Duellist 2/40 Mk II, or the Super Duellist 2/60 Mk II.
The only obvious difference between the Mk I and Mk II versions is the sub-fin and rudder on the Mk II planes.
The original Duellist 2/40 was kitted by Pica, as they are out of business the kits are hard to find. The Duellist 2/40 Mk II plan can be ordered from RCM, their plans section is still running even though the magazine is gone.
Northeast Aerodynamics has gotten production rights for the Super Duellist 2/60 Mk II and the Duellist 2/40 Mk II. The prototype Super Duellist 2/60 Mk II is currently under test, John (Northeast Aerodynamics) hopes to release the production version early next year, and the 2/40 Mk II some time after that.
If you like the plane and want to start NOW then you'll have to go with the plans. Otherwise go to www.ne-aero.com for further information on the kits.
Bill.
PS: Just for the "Haklibut" I added a shot of a four engined version in which the builder admitted using some Duellist parts. The last picture is the Twin-Air 45. wr.

You didn't say if you'd flown twins before, but if you've got some experience and want to go the warbird route, Wing Mfg has a complete B-25 kit, as well as short kits for a P-38 Lightning, A-26 Invader, and P-82 Twin Mustang. RCU wisdom says to avoid the first two unless you've got experience flying twins. Maybe Bill or Twinman have some opinions about the last two.
There's also the OV-10 Bronco twin from Hobby Hanger. The big (80 inch) Bronco specs say it'll fly with .40-.60 2 strokes. My little one (50inch ) flies fine with a pair of moderately powered .25's, and it's my first twin.

The Duellist Mk. II design was published in May 1978 in Model Airplane News. Plans are still available from MAN This is the Dave Platt design that was an upgrade of the original Duellist.
