Big block t maxx Help PLEASE!!!!
I have a big block tmaxx that I just bought with no motor so i got a Axial .28 the problem is that i have a 72tooth metal spur gear so i have to buy a harden steel bell gear but the gear that robision racing makes the bell is self is smaller than the stock t maxx bell so the cluch just burns up because the cluch its self has no room to expand in the robison racing harden steel bell gear dose any body know of another Company that make a harden steel bell gear to run with a metal spur THANKS

How are you running a clutbell thats smaller then the stock tmaxx bell on a bb motor?
What pitch is the steel spur? Smallblock motors run a 8.0 pitch on the spur and clutchbell and big blocks run a 1.0 pitch which means you will need a 1.0 pitch spur gear to fit a 1/8th scale clutchbell. I'm running the mgt spur (1.0 pitch) with a savage clutchbell.
Here is a link to the plastic spur: http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/372138.asp

Is the clutchbell for 1/8th scale big blocks?
If it is it won't work with the spur you have. The teeth are different pitches which means they won't mesh properly and will strip no matter how hard the steel is.

RE: Big block t maxx Help PLEASE!!!!
I can tell you that the fix for this if it's a T-maxx big block conversion that started out as a T-maxx 2.5. I used to change my clutch shoes every 3 tanks on my T-maxx big block conversion until I figured out that you can get a complete 1/8 clutch assembly (which is Mod 1) and the Robinson racing products spur and slipper for the Monster GT (which is also Mod 1) to replace the 1/10 scale clutch (which is Mod 0.8). The 1/8 scale clutch is the only way to handle real power and the RRP slipper and spur for the Monster GT fits the T-maxx 2.5 input shaft exactly . The diameter of the RRP spur for the Monster GT is between the two RRP T-maxx sizes so it happens to end up with an ideal final gear ratio, it has great low end power and top speed. For my conversion I had to use used the largest clutch bell and elongate the slots in the chassis with a rat-tail file so that the motor would slide over a little closer to spur for perfect gear mesh. It sounds more complicated than it is because it's harder to write an explanation than it is to speak it. The clutch assembly I used was by Ofna but I think 1/8 is all the same standard size except for Losi which has a different reach. I'm on my 3rd set of aluminum transmission gears and the clutch hasn't slipped at all.
So largest number tooth Ofna or equivalent 1/8 scale clutch assembly, RRP slipper and spur for the Monster GT and some light filing.

RE: Big block t maxx Help PLEASE!!!!
put a plastic spur on it. that steel spur is gonna cost you a lot of tranny parts. you can also get a torque control slipper upgrade kit for that transmission. thats what i did to mine and it holds up great
kit
