Are there any giant scale Cessna 182 kits or plans out there?
Thanks Chris.

Yes, 1/4 or 1/3 scale. Probably gas powered.

Default Giant scale Cessna 182?

Chris:

I'm putting a G-23 in mine. W. Hostetler(SP) has plans/kits for the 150, but don't know about the 182. I'm doing some links searches to see what I can find. I guess the 81" TF is 1/5th scale. Good luck on this one - I couldn't find plans or kits.

Wendell Hostetler has plans for both the 150/152 and the 182 Cessnas
He will also print in any size you wish.
Here are the links to his site and the 182 he offers...... enjoy!

Default Giant scale Cessna 182?

Chris, I can ad a little info in addition to the above threads. I purchased Hostetlers plans for the 182 at Toledo this spring and went over to the booth for precision cut kits and purchased their lazer cut kit for the plane. The kit is absolutly beautiful, and complete, couldn't ask for more. I also went over to fiberglass specialties out of michigan and purchased the cowl, wheel pants and formed windshield from them. Now I,m saving up for a 3w75 to power it with. Probably a bit much as the plans call for a 3-4 cubic inch motor. I have a quadra 50 new in the box that everyone thinks would be fine but I absolutley hate an under powered plane, I can always throttle back!. I gave $375.00 for the kit and felt it was well worth it, everything is bagged and labeled, even the sticks. A very well done deal. It is just the wood parts, sheeting ect, and doesn't have any accessories like gear or anything . Hostetler lists mfgs for those parts.

Hope this helps...........John

John, glad to hear your precision cut kit was to your liking.
I have never bought one of there kits but have seen a couple, I guess you do get what ya pay for in some cases.
The 182 is a big bird, and I bet a lot of wood was in that box for what is really a pretty good price.

Just a note on power. The 3W would be a gr8 choice, however. Last year at a Scale Ralley I attended I saw one flying on a G62 with no power problems at all. Food for thought.

Good luck with this project..... maybe someday I too will have enough money and time to tackle it.

WOW!!! Thats a bad ***** plane in that pic! But I'm confused. Is it a kit or plans? "the booth for precision cut kits and purchased their lazer cut kit for the plane" Is this a place that cuts shapes outa wood? Would it be possible to make a 30% kit of the 182?

Thanks for all the help/info!

Chris.

The Picture is from Wendell Hostetler's plans....... Wendell sells plans only. Precision Cut kits is another seperate company that cuts kits for many of the plans that are on the market.

As for 30%...... Wendell will sell the plans in any scale you request. As for Precision Cut Kits, they will need a copy of the plan to make you a kit........ or you could cut it yourself and save a buck or two. P.C.K. does do a gr8 job, but beware, there is a lot of wood in that airframe.

Precision Cut Kits........ Check them Out
