Solartex open edge sealing,tissue/dope?
Hi,
Just about to cover an se5a,and have decided to cover the entire model with solartex, except for the top decking, which will be covered in doped tissue to give a good surface for spraying,to simulate the ply painted finish.once covered the model will be spray painted
What i need help on,is when i trim the solartex, level with the bottom of top decking ,this trimmed edge will need sealing down,i was thinking of covering the fuse first with solartex ,then when i cover the top decking with tissue/dope,i could overlap the solartex trimmed edge, with a tissue by say 3/16",and dope over, and once dry, spray
I was unsure the tissue/dope would stick down to the solartex, for a good finish
This sound ok with you experts!!!!
Cheers

Dope sticks to Solartex just fine. I've used doped tissue trim over Solartex before now. Anyway you'll want a coat or two of varnish/dope/fuel proofer etc over the whole thing won't you ? Otherwise Solartex is a pig to clean. The overall coating will seal everything nicely.
