Looking for a nice RTF package for a beginner.
Hello, Im thinking about getting into RC helis and I want a solid RTF kit that has everything for around $100-200.
I just want something that will be good for a beginner and that I can use to get used to flying.
So if you guys could link me to good RTF kits then that would be awesome.
Im likeing this one http://www.helihobby.com/html/dragonfly_helicopter.html
Is it a good one?
Thanks!
Also, what odes fixed pitch mean?

Hey there,
Do you have an understanding of basic aerodynamics? Have you flown planes before? I guess if you are breaking into this hobby then do it with the DF5#4 (Walkera Dragonfly 5-4). Its a coaxial heli which means that it has two rotor blades and is extremely stable which is excellent for getting used to the cotrols and orientation of a helicopter.
If you want to go with a tail motor drive like the one shown in the link then I suggest you try and get a R/C flight simulator and practice on that for a while. These things do take time to learn and crashes are inevitable in the beginning stages.
Best of luck to you dude!

Ive flown one before, but just for a sec.
With the one I an getting I am just going to fly right above the ground until I get used to it.
For the coaxial one, is it maneuverable? It can fly "3d" right?

3D No but maneuverable certainly. It can perform all the maneuvers of a tail rotor heli except fast forward speed and 3D flying. You should go and check out the walkera website at www.walkera.com and watch the videos they have posted there. Its a good fun heli to fly indoors and out (on a calm day) and its cheap and spares are cheap and always available.
Otherwise go for a DF4#1 tail motor drive. Its a very forgiving heli and well priced. I have one and it takes a really hard crash to break something, and all the parts are cheap.
Your call, I've been flying for some time now and this is the best advice I can give you, and dont forget the RC Simulator is the KEY here!

hey clamber you have good taste! that is a excellent choice to learn on and a sweet heli!. i have a HBFP which is very close to that heli and its a great starter heli. from that you can graduate to any heli. if you get a coax heli it wont help you at all towards learning to fly a good cp heli at all [3D] and you,ll most likely get bored quickly. i still use my honeybee and it helps me with my 450 and 500.
if you can master that heli youll out fly me thats for sure

Keep in mind that Dragonfly FP (Fixed Pitch) cannot do 3d either. But as srout says, you will learn the basics.
