Default Giant Scale Pricing

I am wondering as many manufacturer offer the product in this category in various price. So I would like to ask your guys opinion what do you think the appropriate price of;

82" Yak 54 (50 CC. gas)
100" Yak 54 (80-100 CC. gas)
100" Super Decathlon (40-60 CC. gas)
126" Super Decathlon (60-80 CC. gas)
85" Edge 540 (40-60 CC. gas)
100" Edge 540 (80-100 CC. gas)

I am considering the models as above but try to find the most cost efficiency product manufacturer.

You can get a Wildhare 84" Edge for $400 plus shipping. This is a great price for a plane that does everything most of us can do. They also have Extras in the same size. They're designed around a 50cc size engine. They also have a Yak, under $400, that is a bit smaller and comes in around 15 pounds.

The Super Decathalon is a whole different plane that the Edge or the Yak.

The following applies to Edge/Extra/Yak/Cap type planes... I've never flown a Decathalon... I like a symmetrical airfoil.

How much do you want to spend? For a really nice 50cc you are looking at around $2000 finshed. You can probably put together a 33% (such as a H9 Extra/Edge or a Wildhare Extra 260) for a couple hundred more with careful shopping (ZDZ-80 or 3W-75 for motor). If you want a nice 100cc plane (35%) you are looking at around $3000-$3500. Decide this first, then look at the manufacturers.

Thanks marzo 91 and Sillyness,
I want to start with the Edge and Yak around 50 cc. with the budget of $1,000. BTW I did find the several manufacturer with various price offered as I told. So I am wondering the factor of large price difference as well.

Also my friend interested in Super Decathlon (aprox. 33%) which he can not yet find it in ARF, if anyone have information about this plane please post...

Your not going anywhere with a budget of $1000 if you want a 50cc plane.

Sorry to be so blunt--but it's the truth.

You can build a 25% plane with a glow engine for your budget.

You're still looking at around 1k just for the plane and engine - less receiver, servos, batteries and extra hardware you might have to buy and extra support equipment that you may not have (example: if you go lithium ion and you don't have a li-ion charger).

It adds up quick! Also, keep in mind props are going to be around $20-30 and spinners are close to $100 if you have them precut/predrilled. Then, HD extensions - usually around $10.00 each. Switches - $20+

Sillyness is right... you're looking at $2000 for a good 50 CC airplane
ready to fly. Even if you have a good radio, it's likely you don't have those
servos that have sufficient torgue to operate the larger control surfaces.
Batteries with more capacity will be needed to drive those servos. Two
or three batteries instead of one, as gassers have ignition systems that
require a battery. Bigger wheels, larger, stronger push rods and so on.
You might think of used, but don't buy one before you have flown it or
seen it flown.
I would suggest you read alot of the build threads on this site. You can
learn alot from doing that, and have a much better understanding of what
we have been telling you. Do some Internet window shopping. Keep a
list of products and their prices. If you make a purchase, try to get as much
as you can from one dealer/supplier to hold down shipping costs. You can
start at Wildhare. Click on Tom's products and price list. That will give you
a good idea on good airplane and support equipment prices. I am on my
forth Wildhare and very happy with all of them. Troybuilt Models is another
good site to check out prices. Of basics and after market prices.
And keep asking the questions... we're here to help you.

http://www.wildharerc.com/Prices/prices.html

Great page. Lists almost everything you need, except RX, Batts, Switches, prop. Add it all up then add about $200-$250 for the RX, batts, switches, prop.
