rb tm 523 test run-video-update, test run w/o CD
took my revo out just in the court today to test the new throttle servo, and i got side tracked by the power the engine has, center diff on tarmac is bad mojo with this engine, the front wheels just balloon up like disks and makes it turn in random directions because the front end has little traction, and it's running extremely rich, look at all the smoke coming from the exhaust.

RE: rb tm 523 test run-video
i got it high because it was stalling during break in, i still haven't tuned it properly yet, it's still way on the rich side so i'm not gonna mess with it till i get it tuned correctly.

wow thats a way COOL engine. it looks like it has crazy HP and speed. im looking for a cheap easy to tune engine that has insane power for my revo 3.3. do you recommend the tm 523, 323, or 18TM? those engines are for a good price.

RE: rb tm 523 test run-video
the rb isn't cheap, was $540 AUS so i'd expect at least $230 in the U.S (thats for the kit with the engine, engine mount, exhaust header and pipe, you can buy just the engine for a lot less) or more so if you want cheap power go the picco .26, i think it's about $160 or something but they're on backorder everywhere so it might take a while to find a picco.

I inspected one they had up on display at one of my not as local hobby stores and the fit and finish was rather impeccable... looking foward maybe some more when you get her settled in... I'm picking one up as soon as I have another day off... over here the RB TM523 is about $385 CDN and it comes with a pipe... can't complain about that...

Truth be told, they should get RB innervations to change their names... ruins the name of a good engine manufacturer.. lol

i just took the center diff out, to keep it fron slipping out of forward i put a lego spacer on the shaft for the dogbone, should be good for now.

Here is the TM323 in a 1st Gen T-maxx (Short chassis and arms. )
Pretty much dropped right in. For the shorter chassis you can't have the one shock behind the engine. But the newer Maxx's should have no problem.

RE: rb tm 523 test run-video
Having a radio with adjustable exponential throttle curve controll helps make the engines power easier to controll.
I could set my radio up so when I hammer it it won't even pull a wheely. But there is no fun in that.
I have not finished running in the engine yet and it is allready faster than my CV-R .15.

I like that engine but i'd rather get an sts .30 for $130 and then another $50 for the mount. I might do this combo during the winter if i have the money but right now i'm just getting my .18tz ready for the race season to start back up.

^^^ and another 55 for the pipe. I will be buying the STS D30m, the New Era engine mount, and the STS 0702 pipe, If you order from stsmicroengines.com you can get %10 off the pipe-engine combo. and at $212 with way more power than a TM523 or 323 st a lesser cost, it is deffinetly a better deal. and for those that don't know the TM523/323 engines are a nock-off of the Sirio .23: http://www.micromotori.com/ there wasn't an exact link, just look around for it, it is under: monster

It's cheaper, and has more power, so why not get the STS?? and the sirio .23 is hard to find, but it's not discontinued, it's on the sirio site.

RE: rb tm 523 test run-video
i asked my lhs, they say it's discontinued (they could be wrong though), i was going to go a sirio .23, then i was gonna go a siro .27, ended up with the rb because to get the .27 it was gonna cost about $700 once i got the engine, mount, pipe and header (Australian damn it i don't wanna hear all this they are ripping me off crap again)
the tm 323 is a lot like the sirio .23, but the 523 is a lot different, it has a different crankcase, sleeve and bearings then the 323.
the TM523 is proberly the best .23 engine out there at the moment.

look on the Sirio site, it is still there and the engine was supposedly dis-continued a long time ago, but there are still places that sell them.
