Default Trickle charging my reciever packs

I have an older MDP (also known as Ofna Nimh Battery Trickle Charger) wall charger for my reciever packs. When I first plug it into the wall and connect to a pack, the red lamp is on and then dims slowly until you can no longer see it lit. Is the charger still charging my pack? I know when this first started happening I checked the pack and it had a little bit of juice, so I think that it may actually be charging although the red lamp issue has me concerned. Thanks so much for any help you can give to me.

I have the feeling you either have a bad charger or battery.

I have the feeling you either have a bad charger or battery.
My first thought as well, wonder if the light go's out because its already fully charged? Trying discharging the pack and see if it blinks out after a few minutes, if it stays on then....
